I lost my TRS rating yesterday. I had 1 too many bad stars in shipping and handling costs.I gave up trying to kiss you know what because I think my performance is exemplary and there is nothing I can do to keep a mean minded buyer from leaving what ever stars they want. I know (pretty much) that one buyer left me all 1s because I started a dispute after 6 days!!She also left me a neg. Called Ebay they said awww, I'm sorry, but we can't do anything about it.

Guess what, today, one day after my evaluation, my star are all OK again. All the baddies have dropped off. I have 0 bad in all categories except 1 in S & H. One day later, isn't that amazing??

Yeah, hopefully it isn't some tease of a glitch that will make them reappear.

The issue for many sellers is whether people will go for their item with free shipping vs. another who doesn't offer free shipping but the total is about the same. The answer depends probably on what you sell. I have two accounts, one with mostly unique vintage items and another with very common new items.

My new items always sell for 30-100% higher than other sellers. Largely because I present a more professional listing (not to gloat) which buyers feel more comfortable with. They don't want to buy something that someone took blurry dark photos on a hideous bedspread. People want details and close ups. I can't sell my items to make $5 profit each. It isn't worth my time to do so. I make $15-30 on each of these items even after my shipping costs.

Vintage items are different. Some items get shipped oversize, so I have to be careful in offering free shipping. I have had far less issues underselling (2 items I broke even on since the 1st of the year) than when I used to charge for shipping.

The difference is- do I get 20% discount b/c I get automatic 5.0 on shipping fees that keeps my dsrs all above a 4.9 or do I take the hit on shipping fees and don't get the discount. Weigh out 20% discount on your fees vs. how much extra you get charged for including free shipping. I figure adding the two up, I am still getting 4-8% overall discount by keeping my shipping dsrs at a 5.0 which is where I used to take the hit.

At this point the 20% doesn't really bother me, sales have been soooo slow that the 20% of FVFs would not amount to much. I do like have the TRS logo on my listings. I do think people respond to that.I just hate the unfairness of all of this cr*p.

Oh well, maybe next month unless so cranky person takes out their anger on me again.Like I said, there is nothing I can do about it, so why stress over it.

I do not think the bad stars will reappear, when I did a search of the bad stars, only one was in the 30 days, the rest were older, but who knows, Ebay is not transparent on any of this stuff, so it is all a guessing game.

I did consider the % and I am better off getting a few dollars extra on shipping than the 20% discount at this time of the year. Around the holidays, not so much, the discount would be better for me.

So you think ebay remove all the one's or was it time for them to fall off?
I know what you mean about cranky people leaving a bad rating. I had one person leave me 3 1's in everything but shipping cost (thanks to free shipping) simply because she DIDN'T read the description.

I think it was time for them to fall off, but suspicious that they FELL OFF the day after it caused me to lose my TSR, not the day before.

I suspect that no human was involved in you loosing TSR status. A computer is set to handle that job. As far as TSR rating meaning something to a customer, I doubt they even notice. I'm a fairly experienced ebay seller and shopper and I don't even know what the TRS status thingy looks like or where it might be.

TRS is determined by monthly cycles. So, you lost your TRS for this month, but should get it next month.

This happened to me last year, though more like 2-3 weeks apart.

Something happened to me last year. Best thing to do is just accept adjust and move on.

shag: you are right, unless there are other cranky people out there ready to pounce, I will be fine next month.

ggardenour:I am just reporting, not obsessing like I would have in the past. There is nothing I could have done to prevent it, so I am moving on.

Just got my Ebay mag today with all sorts of useless ideas and strategies. I just LOVE the hype of how fees are going down with the new structure of including fees on postage. That new policy starts now if you do not have a store.

From what I see, my rates will actually be dropping some. 1% on FVF.

1% over the course of a year adds up.
