Personal jurisdiction just made a huge expansion in California. Post it here, go to court there.

I thought since the transaction originated where the seller is, that is where the jurisdiction should be. But then I have been wrong before

That is really bad for eBayers - who is gonna spend the money to go to California to file and fight a case? It just doesn't make sense.

Since everyone in auction chat is either a lawyer or has one on retainer (or both!), this decision could have serious ramifications for us.

Its just not auctions. An actionable posting on a bulletin board can land you in court in a far off state.

This brings to mind ebay feedback. You might want to consider very carefully how you word neg FB.
