1. I see more news about Lauren Bush (the niece/model than Mrs. Bush.
2. I realize she can't be active like Hillary was, but couldn't she pick some kind of a platform and run with it? The former Mrs Bush read to little kids and that was nice at least. What does Laura do?
3. Is she even alive? Is she tied up somewhere? I never see anything about her and I watch the news every day. I read newspapers. I know the drinking twins are alive and well, but frankly I am getting a little worried about Laura!

ashlander , I think she's tied up somewhere.....she's probably the only person on earth who knows what Bush Jr. is really thinking, making her a Security threat.

Even if we had elected Bush I was never of the thought that you were electing a team.
The CEO of a corperation never has to push his wife out front as an officer of the corperation. It would be refreshing if some president had a wife who actually had a career of her own instead of shilling his.

Please pardon my being dense, ashlander, but is there some specific reason why Mrs. Bush could not be active like Hillary was? I am totally unaware of any reason that would preclude her participation as many of her predicessors have done and am intersted to hear the reason(s) for this one from you.

It would refreshing if this president had a career of his own, instead of being a pretender to that office.

Hi Borillar,
Remember how much we heard from the GOP when Hillary was trying to create a health plan? My reasoning is that her own party would seem to be against her being outspoken (maybe even seen as far as I can tell so far!)

Still laughing over your last comment!

Oh, yah! That's right -- I remember now! The Republicans BASHED the President's Wife (Hillary) non-stop for trying to participate in her husband's agenda. That went on and on and on and on, prompting Bill to draw the line on his underage daughter. And just before His Lowness went on vacation, he gathered the Press Corps together to demand that they leave HIS wife and ADULT kids alone! Apparently, hypocrisy just doesn't faze Dubya in the least.

Well, it did appear to me she had taken over. I remember asking a friend if it was Bill or Hillary that was elected.

I remember feeling the same way about Nancy Regan too, although she seemed to be running the nation from their private quarters and wasn't so bold about the whole thing.

I've only seem Mrs Bush three times on tv. We don't hang in the same circles. But each time she has come across to me as a very gracious, gentle woman who has her own ideas of where she'd like to concentrate her time....and I'm glad it's not helping her husband run the nation.
