MAKE THE PIE HIGHER
By George W. Bush

I think we all agree
The past is over.

This is still a dangerous world.
It's a world of madmen
And uncertainty
And potential mental losses.

Rarely is the question asked,
Is our children learning?
Will the highways of the Internet
Become more few?
How many hands
Have I shaked?

They misunderestimate me.
I am a pitbull on the pant leg
Of opportunity.
I know that the human being
And the fish
Can coexist.

Families is where our nation
Finds hope
Where our wings take dream.
Put food on your family!

Knock down the tollbooth!
Vulcanize society!
Make the pie higher!
Make the pie higher!
Major league.

These quotes were arranged by songwriter and musician, Richard Thompson, and printed in "Northern Lights."

Bunnicula: Glad you like it! My two personal favorites in it are "where wings take dream" and the pit bull thing. What exactly is the pit bull doing on the pants leg??!!!

There is a book out on Bushisms.

Can you imagine how many volumes there will be in that collection by the end of his term?

Thanks roadsmith. I enjoyed that poem and sent it to a friend. I can't read Bushisms without thinking of Vice President Dan Quayle, neither can she and she arranged some of his quotations as a writing exercise. It's long but I enjoyed reading it.

My Misstatements
Dan Quayle Quotations

It's rural America.
It's where I came from.
We always refer to ourselves
As real America.
Rural America, real America, real, real, America.
Somewhere between real and real real.

If you give a person a fish, they'll fish for a day.
But if you train a person to fish, they'll fish for a lifetime.
You all look like happy campers to me.
Happy campers you are
Happy campers you have been
And as far as I'm concerned
Happy campers you will always be.

I have made good judgments in the Past.
I have made good judgments in the Future.
In the past, we have tried too much
To prevent the making of mistakes.
We don't want to go back to tomorrow, we want to go forward.
We will move forward, we will move upward
And yes, we will move onward.
The future will be a better tomorrow.
I am the future.
If we do not succeed
Then we run the risk of failure.

I believe
We are on an irreversible trend
Toward more freedom and democracy
But that could change.

People who bowl vote.
Voters are like trees
If you are trying to build a forest.
If you have more trees than you have forests
Then at that point
The pollsters will probably say you will win.
A low voter turnout is an indication
Of fewer people going to the polls.

I'm not a Yuppie, I'm a Senator.
I was known as the chief grave robber of my state.
I hope there's some respect and dignity
For the things I did not do.

I used to be a Batman fan until I had this job.
Now all of a sudden, Robin looks awfully good, yeah
I should be Robin and not Batman.
I want to be Robin to Bush's Batman.
Robin is going to make a return.
The next sequal to Batman will be "Where's Robin?"
That is not a yes or no question.

I'm the Vice President. They know it
And they know that I know it.
They asked me to go out in front of the Reagans
I'm not used to going in front of President Reagan
So we went out behind the Bushes.

Welcome to President Bush, Mrs. Bush and my fellow astronauts.
It's time for the human race to enter the solar system.
For NASA, space is still a high priority.
Those same asteroids which promise material riches
Can be a threat as well.
The loss of life will be irreplaceable.

Public speaking is very easy.
You smile discreetly, you look like you're enjoying yourself
Like you're ready to get down to serious business.
You've got to be careful what you say.
Verbosity leads to unclear, inarticulate things.
I stand by all the misstatements that I've made.

And you take the U.N.C.F. model
That what a waste it is to lose one's mind
Or not to have a mind
Is being very wasteful.
How true that is.
How true that is.

Lucky7:

Thank you for the Quayle poem! Isn't it funny that he actually sounds more literate (if more enthusiastic) than Bush?!
