bunnicula,

Now now I'm sure there's a perfectly good explanation - just like sweet dear Daddy and his pet snake who wouldn't hurt anyone, except his daughter.

They didn't find a snake.

"There's a culture difference that we're dealing with here," McCoy said. "There are lots of reasons someone in a small town might want to hide the birth of a child."

One of those small town middle America "values" that doesn't get much notice when people are busy bashing the "evils" of the big city, no doubt.

MrP...

You're so right. I lived in a tiny town in central Washington state, in the early 60's. I knew a cheerleader that got pregnant...you can only begin to imagine the horrors that ensued.

It's one of the many reasons I am pro-choice.

Sorry, toke, but I doubt any of those "horrors" could equal being sucked out of a womb, having your tiny limbs chopped to bits, or being burned alive in saline, etc.

Personally, I don't need many reasons to be against abortion.

All I have to say is .."What a lousy auctioneer!!!"

Although this was in a respected paper, I find it hard to believe that an auctioneer of an estate sale, or at the VERY least a "looker" wouldn't have opened the trunk/case before bidding began...I guess things work differently in the big city!!!

Nah, he was bummed that it wasn't a Steiff bear so just put it back. A dead baby would have shut down his auction.

Based on available evidence, it is obvious that the auctioneer is the grandson of the murderer of the child & knew perfectly well that the body was in the trunk. Tired of the burden of the family secret, he slipped said trunk among the auction items in the dead of night and auctioned it off, knowing that no one would ever be able to link him or any of his family to the mummified baby's body.

But it will all come to light through DNA tests. What the auctioneer didn't know was that the family whose belongings were being auctioned off was that of the baby's father, who impregnated his grandmother and then callously dumped her. Since red hair is prominent in that family, the police will call for DNA testing of the baby's hair & that will prove the baby's paternity beyond a doubt--and an uncanny likeness of the baby to the auctioneer will inextricably link him and his family to the pathetic little corpse. Soon people will begin howling for criminal proceedings against his frail 80 year-old grandmother who, it will be proved, filled the attic with the corpses of at least 10 other babies she secretly gave birth to & murdered over the years.

Rad the article for yourself, it's all there if you read it with an open mind...
