Just made my breakfast in and on a whim cut the corn off two ears of sweet corn with a knive and cooked it in butter then scrambled a couple eggs into it. That was so good it has to be illegal. Try it.

Zilvy, that's one of my favorites! When it's not in season I use canned [I know,I know] and it's almost as good. Parmesan cheese is what I like but I have to grate it myself. Can't use the powdered crap that comes in a shaker can.

Gravid, I'm going to have to try the corn. Sounds delish!

I *love* creamed chip beef on toast (doesn't have to be buttered, either ). We had it pretty often when I was a kid--it was incredibly cheap to make 'cause those little jars of chipped beef (which make great glasses when empty) were only .59 each & one could be made into a meal for three (bread was .33 a loaf). When I see how much a jar is going for these days, it's just amazing!

Perhaps tomorrow I will vary my diet ... no butter!

BTW, $3.99 a pkg

A little breakfast place near me serves an asperegus omlet - when my wife ordered it it came out with ranch dressing on the side. She said I don'6t think so - but she tried a little dip on a piece and ended up using the whole thing.

While fresh tomatoes are in season don't miss making a cream cheese and tomato omelet--swoon! Just spread about an ounce of cream cheese in the center of the omelet and top with a thin slice or three of fresh tomatoe, salt & pepper...yummmmmm

I was helping out at the Norco Horseman's Association booth last night at the Norco Fair and happened to notice that the booth across from ours was selling preserves, canned veggies, etc. I moseyed over & found--to my delight--garlic. They had Dilled Garlic and Spicy Garlic. I bought a jar of the Spicy Garlic and shared it later last night with some friends.

Talk about a wondrous taste sensation! Garlic lover paradise, I'm telling you...

I have made an interesting observation after reading cooking threads for awhile.

Men are better and more creative cooks than women!

Why don't we just leave men in charge of the kitchen?

I do the cooking here except maybe once every two weeks - but I know some idiot men that can't cook a real meal at all and end up eating out everyday if their wives die.

My Dad could only cook the basics but he could do it over a small wood fire with a few skewers and a cast iron pan. He was a Ranger and handy with woodcraft. He could bake a chicken in a clay envelope and crack it out and the feathers would stay in the clay.

My Grandmother was the cook of the family and did everything Pennsylvania Dutch style.

The Lutheran minister however would not come in my Granmother's house because she was a pow wow lady and he did not approve of her blocking pain and blood flow, and putting the power in hexs and such, so he missed some good cooking.

gravid - we're going to the Sweet Corn Festival in Hoopeston, IL this weekend. Think I'll bring some home and try it with eggs, it sounds wonderful.

Rhonda

BTW - my husband's fried chicken is wonderful, mine is hardly edible!

I don't know, Gravid.

I like fresh corn and I like eggs, but I don't think I would care for them mixed.

Creamed Chipped Beef!!!

Just the thought of it gags me. I grew up having to eat it for 12 years!!! Was grateful for the day when I knew I would never have to eat it again.

My husband and daughters loved it. My husband would fix it for supper when I wasn't around.
