The "offer" really comes as no surprise, does it? For the past several months there have been news reports of government-supported black Zimbabweans savagely attacking & killing white farmers & taking over the farms--even down to hacking the farm dogs to death. The farmers, in their desperation, have also offered more than $1 million to help blacks resettle the farms.
Crowning irony: Zimbabwe's Vice-President Joseph Msika said: "Government welcomes the fact that some white commercial farmers appear to have turned a new leaf in their attitude towards the government's land reform programme."

CBS had a report on the attacks a couple weeks ago. The farmers are nuts to stay, it looked really hairy. I suppose it is hard to just walk away from everything you own, but I don't see them with much alternative.
