I have just got back from trying to go to the grocery store, there is total panic buying everywhere! The gas stations have lines a mile long!!!! I'm in a rural town in Missouri! Is anybody else seeing this where they live?

Wow! Nothing like that is happening here in Washington State, not that I've seen. It was business as usual at the gas station this morning.
This morning's events made me want to create an emergency kit, though, which I'll probably do soon.

I almost bought gas this morning on the way home from taking the boys to school...it was $1.65 per gallon, I was on empty but thought I'd do it later...it's now $1.90 per gallon and traffic is backed up terribly. I came home and will try again later

People I work with said that there has been such a run of people at our credit union drawing out all their funds that they've had to limit the amount you can take out at once.
Hopefully, people will calm down enough to realize that doing things like that could cause bank collapse...

So people really are panicing... there's no reason to withdraw bank account funds.
I noticed my debit card didn't work at the gas pump this morning (it wouldn't take the pin number), so I had to use it as a credit card. I presumed that was because the building which houses my bank's HQ locally was evacuated, but maybe the system is just disabled across the board because of things like that.

I live 35 miles outside of NYC and we are not seeing anything like what you folks are seeing.
Interesting.

In Detroit the Mayor of Dearborn which has the biggest arab polulation in the US was on TV and said the rumors of mob violence were false and praised everyone for remaining calm.

I did go to fill up my tank and get a small amount of cash, things were very somber, but not unusually busy, but more cars at the gas station than usual, and yes, the prices at the pump were higher. I am in Oregon.

I was on empty and running some errands, so I got gas one town south of here. No price increase yet (but I'm sure it's coming) and the place was virtually deserted. I think I'll head back into town and fill up completely. Ordered LP for the tank outside, too...before that goes nuts.
I'm just sick here. This is unreal.

There does seem to be overreaction.

I just went and filled up my gas tank; I thought it would be prudent. There was a line but no panic. Most of us were pretty dazed and one poor lady was crying.
Most of my neighbors are outside and we're all just talking and crying and feeling very thankful that our families are intact.
I feel bad for the kids. They know what happened but don't fully comprehend it. They seem confused and some are scared. That makes me sad.

We did the grocery thing before others got off work. All of our federal offices and buildings are closed. Many state offices closed. The mall is closed.
The grocery was normal but the gas stations all have loooong lines. No panic, just every one wants a full tank of gas.
Churches have all called prayer meetings for tonight which are normally held tomorrow.
Military has all been called to Keisler and other bases.

I have a full tank, but where would I go? If something is gonna hit, it will. Only two ways out of my town, and I wouldnt even begin to try.
