Just heard a good idea......today would be a good day to display your American flag.

Don't ask me to justify why. It just makes me feel better.

Because, we are ONE NATION! The flag is our badge of courage. By flying it I will be telling the cowardly enemy, you can wound us and cause us to shed many tears, but you cannot control or dominate our spirit!

Do stores sell flags this time of year? I don't have one, but I'd really like to fly one.

Wouldn't it be awful to find out that this was an act of domestic terrorism? As unlikely as that it, it's not impossible, as the Oklahoma City bombing proved.

I felt that urge and did so.

Rainy Bear....I just called Home Depot and they said they only carry them on Memorial Day and the Fourth of July, but they have been inundated with calls today. Couldn't give me any info on who else might carry them.

Wow.

Make one. Use a white towel or a strip of white sheet, grab the blue and red crayons or markalots you might have and MAKE ONE. doesnt matter if its not store bought or perfect. Its what it stands for.

Maybe contact your local VFW? Maybe they have flags. I don't know. It is a thought.

Its what it stands for.

A local radio station is passing out flags. People are flying them. The blood donation centers have lines here. I think, I hope, I pray, that the terrorist become amazed at how American's will respond. As one government official put it, "They wanted our attention, they got our attention, and they will rue the day."

When I went to pull ours out the closet, it was too ratty to put out. I meant to get another one on Labor Day but never got around to it. Found one at Longs Drugstore today when I went on errands. There were only 2 full size left, but a number of the smaller yard ones. Target has them too, I think.

Lowe's always has flags in stock.

Mine is always flying. Rather than taking it down at dusk, I will keep it up tonight, lighted, of course.

Just put our flag outside the front door, right under the outside light. Local radio stations asking folks to do the same.

God Bless America

My town put them up on every telephone pole. It looks like the 4th of July.

I have a bunch of the little ones. I put them around my driveway ( they are tall enough not to touch the ground).
WalMart & KMart usually has them.

ohandrea, thanks for the suggestion and Femme, thanks for mentioning Lowe's. By the time I got there last night their flag selection was a little sparse, but I was able to pick one up and it's now over my garage.

Thank goodness I did not have to display the pirate flag.

A little neighbor girl asked us what we were doing while we were mounting the flag, and we said we were putting our flag up. Then she asked "Why?" Neither my husband nor I really knew what to say, but I finally managed to answer, "Because it shows we're proud of our country." I suppose that sums it up.

Our whole neighborhood is flying the American Flag. Makes your heart swell with pride and the message is definitely there! We are Americans and we are proud of our people and our country! ONE NATION!
