Our local radio station is reporting that 200 firefighters (the first on the scene at the World Trade Centers) are missing (entire fire companies). Police report approx. 75 officers are also missing.
Let us pray for those people, for those inside those buildings, for their families & friends...for all the souls touched by this tragedy.

I'm in Michigan with my hands folded. I am sad, fearful and have so much hope for our future as I am seeing so many people pulling togehter. My prayers for all. Cindy !!!

Lifting up those who's loved ones will not come home tonight, for trapped survivors, and people on operating tables. Asking for wisdom for our decision makers.
Tonight we had a special prayer meeting where we sang America the Beautiful. The church was packed.

Sounds like a wonderful thing to do....all gathered together with a positive purpose and in the healing arms of the Church.

Recently I gave a talk at our church on the power of prayer. I did some research ahead of time and came up with an interesting study. (I can't find my notes right now so am just going on memory) A few years back a group of people in a hospital were divided into two groups--one group was prayed for (without their knowledge) and the other was not. The group that was prayed for got better faster, had fewer deaths and fewer trips to the hospital later on. However--there were some who criticized this study, saying it was flawed and unscientific because who knew if the unprayed for group was really prayed for (by friends, relatives, etc.) So--recently some people did some more very scientific controlled studies--they prayed for rye grass. The grass was divided into two groups--both receiving the same amount of water, sunlight, care, etc. However, one batch was prayed for--the other wasn't. Guess which group grew better, faster and taller? The prayed for grass. They tried this study from long distances--from within barricaded cells etc--didn't make any difference. The prayed for grass still did better.
So--keep up the prayers. Even though we might not know the outcome, somewhere it's helping somebody.

Found this on a web page, thought I'd share...
National Prayer
Lord, we come to You on bended knee,
heads bowed and our hearts filled to overflowing
with so much grief for the many people who have
been injured and killed in our National crisis.
We ask you Lord, to give courage
and strength to those who so bravely
go to their aid. And though their hearts will
be heavy and filled with sorrow we ask Lord
that You give them the endurance needed
to help them through this difficult task.
Please give us the strength Lord,
to get through each difficult and devastating
day that faces each of us and our country.
Protect and guide our Military that
are now being called to duty.
We ask Lord, that You guide the leaders
of our great country in their hour of decision.
The burden that has been placed on their
shoulders during this crisis is overwhelming.
We ask that with Your infinite wisdom You
guide them gently to the right decisions.
And lastly Lord, we ask that You
allow us all to come together as a Nation,
to stand tall and united, so that we might
help each other in our hour of need.
Amen
