"Already, the Bush administration is assembling an international coalition for an Israeli-style war against terrorism, as if such counter-productive acts of outrage had an existence separate from the social conditions out of which they arise. But for every "terror network" that is rooted out, another will emerge - until the injustices and inequalities that produce them are addressed"
Thanks for posting that very important article. I just read a report by terrorism expert Kenneth Katzman of the Library of Congress Congressional Research Service which was just completed before this terrorism.
He found that Osama bin Laden has a network operating in 34 countries. I don't see how a military strike or even wiping out the entire country will make a dent in hate that is so widespread.

If this is the thread for other perspectives, I probably belong here.
I haven't seen anyone offer this thought up yet, but I think Albert Einstein's words are worth consdidering:
"I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."
It seems to me that if Einstein was right, it's not going to make a whole lot of difference to the guy with the stick and the guy with the stone who was justified in WWIII. Before we rush out, convinced we're right and that God is on our side, we should wonder - how much will that matter?
