I am seeing threads talking about Gold and Silver being in the ruins of the trade center.....but I heard nothing on the news.....what is the story?

LOL!!!!!!~ Actually ~ I hardly ever come to the round table ~ but came today and read another post ~ one that the two of you exchanged words in several times and got really curious about the gold..........so I asked.........and still would like an answer.

I haven't heard about the gold and silver thing yet thekismeme. Do you mean actual gold and silver bars? coins? We had 2 major Canadian banks operating in one of the towers, so I can see why there'd be actual money, etc. there, but don't understand why this would be of importance to anyone at a time like this.....????

The gold and silver was stored there in vaults this is how traders paid off daily trades in gold and silver..
As I understand it none of this every really changes hands but if an investor buying gold or silver futures wanted to it would be there right to be given what they have bought or invested in.

thekismeme, I was interested too. I never even thought about it until it was mentioned. Maybe this is why they are so careful on letting people sift as volunteers, because they are really looking to loot, which answer krafts question as to why this would be considered important at this time. (No more important than pink uniforms and Brut cologne is important).

So many other stories are starting to come out about charity scams and people posing as rescue workers asking for social security numbers of the missing..........so sick......but it is happening.

If the gold is worth approximately $110 million then they are using a $264 per ounce price.
Unconfirmed reports say that KRS was last seen enroute to the airport. He was wearing combat fatigues and carrying a metal detector.

The Fact that it was the World Trade center that was attacked and we live in a world economy and the fact that some 30% to 40% of all things bought sold or trade in the world was bought sold and trade from WTC.
This is going to effect many of us here and world wide in ways many never dreamed, WE have only seen the tip of the trickle down with the airline closeings and layoffs here This is going to effect every industry in some small or large way..
even industrys that dont sell or trade over sea will be effected as many of the things they need to conduct bussiness are bought sold and trade inside the global economy..
Machine parts for manufactureing , auto parts, even some food fruits coffee and much more was bought sold and traded and the tranactions were done conducted through the world trade center..
even some of the Collectables and other types of Items that many sell on ebay contacts and deals were made to buy these from over seas manufacturers these deals were cut and made from the world trade center.
not only has no buying selling or tradeing taken place there since the attack but all the contracts and data for the comeing months was lost as well.
the people who were lost there is the biggest loss we are all suffering but in the days to come there is as well going to be a a finacial after shock as well as parts and order shortages start to happen and slow down manufactureing even more.
First it was the airlines that showed the econmic effect the gold and silver is just the second.
the lifes lost is very sad , life for the liveing must continue and some are starting to now take a look at the toll this is going to have on many lifes around the world our The economy and other losses.

Well I guess the real test will be to see if he gets past all the security DoctorBeetle & hepburn 
dman3 - so true and yes, this will definately cripple the economy, which I think was the intent, but I think the U.S. will recover quickly.

No, not me, but jamesoblivion hasn't been heard from since right after I posted about the gold, and he lives right next door. Probably digging a tunnel.
