I am grateful for a lot of things in my life.
However, at this particular time, I am especially grateful:
- That my daughter, who has been focusing her job search in NY and DC, was not in either of those cities on 9/11/01.
- That when I had the overwhelming need to hear the voices of my daughter and her husband on the morning of 9/11/01, they were home to receive my call.
- That my husband and I happened to have a trip south to visit them planned for this past weekend. It happened to be a time when I needed to hug and be hugged by my kids.
- That I was raised in an environment that taught me respect for not only my country but my flag. I would no sooner be without a flag in my home than I would any other necessary accessory.
- That, unlike another board, AW did not close down this board 9/11/01. I suspect there are people on chatboards who have no one else to talk to daily, for whatever reason. It was not a time to be left alone with your thoughts and fears.
- For the technology that puts faces, names and personal stories to the victims of tragedies. We are reminded they were so much more than just victims. They were mothers, fathers, children, husbands, wives, sisters, brothers and friends.
- That I (and those who are dear to me) am able to go on with my life, however mundane it may seem some days.

Femme - what a nice thread this will be! I wanted to post a picture of what I'm grateful for - but I have no inkling on how to do that. Gotta run for right now - they are locking up the building, but will return and list some things that I've been holding especially dear this last week.
Bless us all

- That all of my family lives within a half-hour's drive and most of them are in good health
- That I have friends to share life's pleasures with
- That my husband has remained my best friend through thirty years of marriage
- That I have so many things at my command that so much of the world cannot take for granted -water at the twist of a faucet handle; cool, dry air on a scorching day; mobility from the car nestled in the carport; good health; an almost obscene amount of food to choose from at my grocery, farmer's market, and garden, and so much more.
