First of all, thanks everyone for the prayers ... they definately help
Dad had his appointment in Pittsburgh and the doctors there told him that they couldn't do anything for him right now, that he needs to go home an build himself up .. walk around, get more nutrients, lift small weights.
An amazing thing happened with this visit ...
THE SMILE IS BACK! He is ready to fight again. That is what we were asking for, the best we could hope for. I feel our prayers were answered.
Today is their anniversary ... a milestone I did not think he would reach.
In this battle I am rejoicing with each victory, no matter how small. Each day he is here is to be cherished. I am keeping my fingers crossed for that extra month ... maybe it was a gift from the fine doctors in Pittsburgh.

Becky, I got chills when I read your update. That is so wonderful. It's nice when you get good news when we've gotten so much bad news lately. My prayers are with you and your family. Stay strong. Barbara

Thanks for the update Becky. I know from experience that the better their mood is, the better a patient will do. I am convinced my dad wouldn't have lived as long as he did with his congestive heart failure if he had been whiny and complaining. He rarely complained or fussed, even though he felt so poorly for so long.
The fact that you dad can smile is a great thing. Humor and laughter are good as well, and enjoying life's little moments during trying times is so important.
I hope you and your family get your miracle. Prayers and good thoughts coming your way.

Thanks so much ... you are all wonderful. It helps to come here sometimes and just type away .... I don't have to be strong all the time.
