Just curious.
I went to the mall today and it was packed. I did my part for the economy and spent money.(Art supplies, what else)
I came home to find out one of our best friends brother in law had died.
He was an incredible artist. He sculpted wildlife scenes and has won many awards for it both national and international.
He was the first person I knew that actually made a good living as an artist. He gave me hope, I wish I had told him that.
It was very sad.
I spent the rest of the afternoon trying to kick start the creative process. Somedays varnishing frames and vacumming the kiln is about as creative as I can get.
So what did you do today.

I went to the store to buy the ingredients for a brunch to celebrate my parents' anniversary tomorrow. My father can't leave the house so we're going to take the food there. Other than that, I haven't done too much other than pick up some of the sticks the tree cutters left in the yard and meet my husband for lunch.

Tegan, how about kneading clay? That's a great way to work out tension.

tegan, I'm sorry about your friend's brother-in-law.

So what did you do today.

I went to work, and I'm still there. I just went to the kitchen and cooked a veggie burger patty because it was the only non-sweet thing I could find which I wouldn't have to chew. I got braces yesterday and chewing is no fun right now.

My day has been relatively quiet, even kind of boring. I'm probably a little restless because it's Friday and I could stand to catch up on some sleep.

Packed stuff and shipped it, got the muffler fixed on my car, made bread and chili, went to my new bank and straightened out why they sent me two of everything for my new account!
Fixed the outside lights on a timer, took the door panel of my driver's door so I can work on the window crank which is stiff. Almost ran over a garbage man that stepped way too far in the street. Made a new shelf bracket for the refrigerater shelf because I would not pay $17.00 for a little plastic clip. Stopped and picked up a Canon inkjet printer someone threw out on the curb for pick-up. Kept my Mother in Law in peanut jelly toast all day. Kept peeking in here every couple hours....Got and answered a few e-mails from my wife at work and my step sister that thinks GW Bush can walk on water and we should all pray for him to lead us singing and banging tamborines into glory and righteousness, amen, amen. Never did list anything. Engaged in fee avoidance but no juicy or profitable felonies today.

Wed. I traveled 3 hours to go to my dentist and took the opportunity to visit the GREAT new Mall that has been put up since I left. IT WAS EMPTY! NO SHOPPERS...past visits its always been Full. It was weird!

Today I worked all day at the Post Office, I kept watching for powder to fall out of the envelopes. None was detected. But, I kept thinking what is this going to mean for the future of Mail Delivery?

Now...I'm catching up on the days news/reading threads..and having a beer!

Trying to think what I should fix for supper.

Pretty darn good. Our days here are usually pretty peaceful and quiet.

Slept in later than normal.

Had a wonderful breakfast that my husband prepared for his mother and I.

Made out the monthly grocery list.

Did a couple of household chores.

Searched on ebay in my favorite catagories and bid on a couple of items.

Answered emails from family and friends.

Read and posted here on AW.

Sat down with my MIL and discussed her financial affairs.

Spoke with a neighbor, who we love, that is in the process of breaking up with his S/O after 7 years of living together.

Waiting for my husband to return from town with dinner.

Very peaceful day.

Tegan - Sorry to hear you've lost someone who you admired so much.

Saabsister - Congratulations to your parents.

RainyBear - Hope the mouth becomes less sensitive *very* soon.

Thanks Linda_K. I think it will be much less sensitive in a few days. I'm more worried about the canker sores in my future, and one is forming already from a bracket which kept snagging my lip! The next couple of years should be a lot of fun... lol.

RainyBear...

I used to get those awful canker sores. Started applying Neosporin to my lips...every night. Haven't had one since...no kidding!

Also...I used to wear braces. No way they should catch on your lips... You need to call your orthodontist, right away. He needs to fix that.

Neosporin, huh? I usually get canker sores inside my mouth (when I bite a cheek or eat too much sugar or something), but this one could be a good candidate for Neosporin. I usually use Zilactin, but it stings so badly I hate to do it!

So these things shouldn't be snagging my lips, huh? I'll either talk to my ortho or see if I can bend this little hook down myself. The orthodontic assistant who installed my braces said she was going to do that, but I don't think she did.

I figure this is just the beginning of a long, unpleasant series of activities. Bonding removal from teeth, spacers, braces, wisdom tooth removal, exposing "hiding" adult tooth and yanking it slowly downward with a chain, and finally jaw surgery. But this could be a whole thread unto itself... sorry to ramble on!

RainyBear - Toke is right....shouldn't be any brackets 'snagging' anything in your mouth. Until you can get back to the office, try putting something like a piece of chewed gum over the metal piece sticking you, as a buffer between the bracket and your lip.

Just be careful while chewing the piece of gum to soften it you don't get it tangled in the braces. THIS IS A TEST. LOL But really, use anything like gum that will prevent the bracket from cutting any part of your mouth.

Boy....all that dental work...you are a glutton for punishment aren't you? But in the end, it will all be worth it. And the reward will be a big beautiful smile.

Well, I don't have a *beautiful smile* but 21 root canals and as many crowns plus a 4 tooth bridge.....I can dam well eat what I want.
Many, many years of strife with bad teeth...option was to pull or get with the program.

My teeth are absolutely ugly, but I am able to chew ICE(never ever could before) and anything else I want to chew.

I am adament about taking care of what you have.

In another thread I mentioned that on Wed. of this week I traveled 120 miles(3 hours) to visit with my trusted dentist.
God bless his soul...he saved me!

How I spent my day? Found out this am I am bound for Atlantic City in less than a week for the antique show called Atlantique!!! I am so stoked--can't sleep. And should be asleep--gotta be up at 4 am to get ready for a two day estate sale I am helping with. This sale is a doozey. People had more money than class or brains. It is a decorator's nightmare or dream--depends on your perspective. The only relief my eyes had was look to the ceiling for some solace. It, thank goodness, was painted white.

If we find one more towel or sordid tacky sculpture tomorrow, I will go goofy!

So words of advise? How does one cope with the antique show extravaganza in Atlantic City. BTY, I don't DON'T gamble. But--plan on my flirty one peice suit to catch the last rays of Indian Summer between the madness.

Wow, packer, 21 root canals?? Ouch!

I'm using wax over many of the brackets in my mouth. It seems to be preventing further injury... for now.

Rainybear..thanks he will be missed, there can never be enough beauty in this world.
His work was incredible.

I think they are right if your braces are causing any kind of sores you need to have them checked.
Our niece got lime green braces this summer to match her bathing suit. They have come a long way.

Saabsister how many years have your parents been married?
I love family celebrations.

Jeanyu I haven't been to Atlantic city in years.
Lucky you.
