What's going on? Every time I get a new screen now, whether entering a thread, moving to the next page, posting a reply, or even inputting my password, I get a damn www.800.com or casino online pop up ad. I just killed my ninth or tenth.

I understand that AW needs money, but this is just obnoxious.

Hmmmm... it's not happening to me, Spaz. Are you using AOL? Maybe AW and AOL cut a deal...

Take a look at this site: http://www.smartin-designs.com/

It will show you how to block 99% of the pop-ups, without running software in the background to do it. It works great.

No pop-ups for me, either.

I've been getting them, with every function, for months.

I use to complain on the Services board, but quit when AW started having problems.

Considering the alternative, I just put up with them now.

The large one with the woman's face about scared me to death today. First I've seen that one.

I'm getting them too spaz...every page! I've even gotten them one on top of the other so I can't even move on to another page until I kill them all.

I'm telling you...check out that site I posted. Once you decide to try this, it take about 2 minutes to copy and paste the existing list of spam servers to the hosts file and be done with most of them.

Basically you are using false IP addresses so that when the pop-up ad tries to load, the IP doesn't match the name and it can't load. The web site does a good job of explaining.

Ummm, that one's for you Hepburn. Hope you like just plain old chocolate. I don't like that Devil's Food type chocolate.

The ones i get go behind the window. i have to minimize, X the popup, then maximize, surf one page and do it all over again. A 4 or 5 page thread plus going back to the thread title page involves a lot of clicking.
Bidpay is another one (besides the html rich casino)
Thanks Meya..

I downloaded Norton Virus protection today and I haven't seen an ad all day...maybe just a coincidence but according to the lit...

Block unwanted ads.
Banner ads and pop-up windows can clutter your screen and lengthen web page download times. Norton Internet Security 2001 lets you filter them out for a faster, more enjoyable web experience.

(Don't try this at home!)

I went to my control panel and did an uninstall on a bunch of unwanted little apps that kept showing up on my browser. You can see what those apps are by doing a Control+Alt+Delete and just check out what programs are actually running while you are online. Luckily I didn't uninstall anything that broke my computer! I just couldn't take the pop-ups anymore!

The pop-ups really were slowing down my computer. Whatever I did, they are gone now! Yay!

Also, just now I went to Google and did a search on "pop up windows". Pretty interesting!
