Ok, I got this second hand from my live-in who was watching Bill O'Reilly. So, I have no link to post. Fairview Park, OH

High School kid puts pro-war posters on his locker. They sit for about two weeks w/no repercussions. One day the posters have been ripped off the locker and a note to see the Vice Principal is in their place.

Vice Principal says the kid has offended ArabAmerican students, calls kid's parents to meet.

Before meeting can happen, Principal suspends kid.

Federal court reinstates kid and says school has denied kid due process and freedom of speech.

Note: Kid says ArabAmerican students have been voicing their support of him and his posters.

Observation: those that can, teach, those that can't become principals?

The child in question has been UN-suspended and the suspension removed from the records. He continues to have a poster of an eagle and an American flag on his locker, neither of which was EVER removed

His parents hired a very well-known local attorney to file a federal lawsuit against the school district, claiming the child's "rights of free speech" were violated.

I live in the suburb next to Fairview Park, both outside of Cleveland, so this has been an issue in the local paper. From what I understand, the "offensive" posters were of bombs dropping on Afghanistan.

I went to Catholic school so we never were allowed to post ANYTHING on our lockers so maybe that's why I feel no sense of outrage over this. Is it a "right" to post pictures on school property? And, am I less supportive of him due to the violent nature of the poster? Maybe.

I'm not actually outraged - it seems that since guns became a reality in the public schools, lots of rights I took for granted in high school are gone.

What floors me is the school administrators acting like such boobs. Now THAT hasn't changed much since I was in high school. I used to get suspended on a regular basis for cutting class. My dad tried to explain to the principal that this wasn't a punishment for me but a reward. Fell on deaf ears.

In this case, the principal didn't let the vice principal finish disposition of this. Either the right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing, or the principal just had a real need to usurp the vice. Either way, it's a sad commentary on school administrators.

You have to admit this is the FPCW - First Politically Correct War. That is almost as significant as WWII, which should have been known as the First Atomic War.
In previous wars the Japanese were squint eyed buck toothed rapists and baby bayoneters. The Germons were unemotional death robots and course uncultured scum.

Using these imaiges with cutsy short ugly names like Jap and Jerrys was common in the newsreels and papers.

Of course as soon as the war was over the German turned back into a beer swiling Volkswagon maker in ledderhosen. And the Japanese refound his robes and interest in silk painting and flower arranging.

I guess they are actually going to try to wage war on these people with out dehumanizing them. Be interesting to see if they can do that. I can see someone being put in the stockade for chalking something about ragheads on the side of a bomb. They will be equal opportunity munitions.
