Yesterday, as in most golf games, the day started out like most others. Four guys at the first tee, a bit of friendly banter, side bets made and everyone looking forward to a good day.
That's when the rot set in for one of the guys who was playing with us.
He looked like Tiger Woods as he set up to play his opening tee shot but that's where any resemblance finished. The tee shot was snicked of the toe of the club, faded hard right and scored a direct hit on the windscreen of a members car in the carpark.
His composure badly shaken he managed to get going with the game and by the time the sixth hole was reached he was beginning to look like a golfer again.
That was until he duck hooked a ball into the creek.
Not to be phased, our intrepid hero scrambled about in the tall rushes looking for his lost ball. All was well until he stepped on a snake. Leaping backwards and upwards he promptly smacked his head on an overhanging low tree branch and fell in the creek. It wasn't a nice shallow creek. It was deep and muddy.
After he had struggled out and the unsympathetic mirth had settled down he tried to play golf again. We think his concentration had gone because it wasn't pretty to watch!
Squelching his way up the ninth, our intrepid hero was again the victim of fate and was hit on the knee cap by a stray golf ball from the adjacent fairway. Was he mad!
We all thought it was a good shot because to hit a moving target with a golf ball isn't easy.
Limping his way to the end of the ninth hole he called it quits and stomped off to his car only to find that he must have lost his car keys back in the creek earlier in the round. We just didn't have the heart to make him pay up the bets he had lost!
And you reckon a game of golf can be dull!

LOL, talk about having a bad day! Now, that's a golf game I would have enjoyed watching.
