Walkings fine, it's a start, but unless you are physically pushing yourself it 'aint worth diddly.
Exercise of any sort should push you up to the edge of your comfortable limit and a little bit more otherwise you just stay in your comfort zone and don't achieve anything.
No pain, no gain!
You've also got to eat right. Ton's of people do exercises and then go sit on their butts all day and stuff themselves full of trash as a "reward". Get real.
If you haven't set an achievable goal then you're wasting your time.
Exercise is not something you do when you can't get your old jeans on anymore, it's something you do as a daily routine well before your old jeans don't fit.
I'm done lecturing!

walking is easier is you have a dog to walk. I have two eager-to-walk dogs, but the elderly one gets tired after a block so I ended up carrying him (10lbs). That's not good 'cause after 12 blocks of so he feels like 40lbs! So, I start out with a very light weight umbrella-type baby stroller (25 cents at my fav thrift shop) and when he is tired I pop him in with hardly a paws, uh pause.

If you have a movie theatre within a couple of miles to your house, you could take "movie walks" like I do.
It takes me 1/2 hour, walking fast on an uphill grade to reach my movie theatre. By the time I get there & *know* I have been exercising. I watch my movie (plus bottled water & popcorn w/ no butter), then walk back home, again at a fast clip. Doing this a couple of times a week is great.
