Kraftdinner and Bunnicula, I just wanna say thank you to you both. I saw a lot of what you said on the subject of homosexuality, and as a lesbian, I thought you said it all perfectly. I would've continued to post, but the hatred, generalizations, ignorance and bigotry I saw actually made me physically ill, to the point I couldn't even read it anymore. In the past, I did stick around to try to answer questions and be informative, but how many times can I answer the same questions and keep banging my head against the same wall when there really are people who prefer to be negative and really don't WANT to be informed. My time is better spent in real life right now, where other than being a musician, I am also a peer counselor at a Center for people who are actually new at coming out as Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans, and are dealing for the first time with the kind of hateful issues you have all seen on the board. The counseling and music projects are very healing and healthy and fulfilling. I have no desire to come here to read that filth and hatred. I also spent a lot of time this week at St Vincents Hospital, visiting my good friend and fellow counselor who had lung cancer. He died tonight. I loved this man and I will miss him terribly. He was another hero to me - he has been disabled, walking with crutches and braces his whole adult life, because when he was in his early 20s, a group of men beat him so severely for being Gay, that his spine was damaged permanently. He was such a loving man, and went through his life counseling others, not the slightest bit bitter or hateful. An amazing, truly spiritual person. And then people wonder why we have freakin PARADES. I wish I could laugh. Gay RIGHTS parades - to try to get the same civil equal rights as other people. The right to marry, the right to walk down the street without being beaten nearly to death, the right to be the equal of every other person also created by the same GOD, GODS, GODDESSES.
Another AW poster who I adore has left the boards permanently too. She was a HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR - and the hatred here drove her away as well. I hope the bigots are very proud of their superior selves.
