In the spirit of UA's reaction to the guy with the book in another thread here...

Subject: Instruments of Terror
My housemate Tommy just returned from an AGO (American Guild of Organists)
meeting/concert this evening. The scheduled attraction for tonight was a
concert featuring pipe organ and alpenhorn. The featured alpenhornist
lives in Rhode Island, and has an alpenhorn that disassembles into two
pieces in order to make it easier to travel with.
He did not, alas, make it to this concert. Amtrak forbade him from boarding
the train with his instrument, on the grounds that the case looked too much
like a bazooka. He offered to assemble and play the instrument, to prove
that it was indeed an instrument of music and not of war, but they were having
none of it. No alpenhorns on Amtrak--too dangerous.
One wonders what they would think of, say, Highland pipes.

Yeah, I'm usually a white knuckle flyer in the best of times so I usually take an engrossing book with me. On my last trip from SF to DC, I read a book about serial killers - it would probably be confiscated now.

Now I have to go find out what an alpenhorn looks like so I don't accidentaly shoot anyone pointing one at me.
