It's been awhile since I prepared these.
Hopefully, I'll get a couple of alternatives.

Please provide a short list of ingredients
(Oil, butter, salt, etc.)

Assume that I have gutted the pumpkin, but have
not yet cleaned the seeds. What is the best way to clean them?

BTW, while I'm asking, does anyone still
do this, or eat these things?

wash the slimy stuff off (but not all of it, some of the taste comes from that as it burns off) do not dry them. put them on a cookie sheet and salt them like crazy , turning them and salting the other side. bake until slightly brown. stick with them !they burn in an instant. if they arent wet the salt will not stick..thats it ,seeds +salt

I just looked this up the other day, professorhiggins:

PUMPKIN SEEDS ...
Drying seeds and roasting seeds are two different processes. To dry, carefully wash pumpkin seeds to remove the clinging fibrous pumpkin tissue. Pumpkin seeds can be dried in the sun, in a dehydrator 115-120oF for 1 to 2 hours, or in an oven on warm for 3 to 4 hours. Stir them frequently to avoid scorching.

To roast, take dried pumpkin seeds, toss with oil (1 teaspoon per cup of seeds) and/or salt and roast in a preheated oven at 250 degrees F for 10 to 15 minutes.
