I haven't had time to read all the threads today so - sorry if this has already been posted... It just seems appropriate for this evening.
Earth's shining satellite tonight is called a blue moon, although when it rises just after sunset it could look more like a fat bright orange -- a jack- o'-lantern perhaps, turning white as it climbs high in the sky, and fading away as it sets toward sunrise. According to Bing Quock, the Planetarium director at the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park, what's so unusual about a blue moon on Halloween is that it last shone over California in 1944. And there won't be another until the year 2020 -- time for a new generation of costumed celebrants.

Hi Snowy - I'm embarassed that I've forgotten that... but thanks for helping me out. I've heard of once in a blue moon all my life but never knew what it meant... or, if I did I've forgotten.

Well, mybiddness, since people have been getting all gushy lately, and it's once in a blue moon , I thought I would just go ahead and tell you that I like you. We don't agree on a lot politically, but you write well and you reason your position well. I still remember the outstanding post that you wrote about the guy that your town "adopted."
There. That's my limit for the day. Besides, snowy already knows that I'm a fan.

Thanks for the link Nebula.
And thank you Antiquary. This is my first experience on a chat forum and I have to say that you are one of many that caught my attention and gave me reason to rethink some of my ideas about a lot of different things... always a good thing. That's one of the great things about this kind of forum.
Although I should say that I still can't seem to bring myself to see the same beady-eyed Prez. Bush that my buddy Rawbunzel sees. Maybe if I stick around long enough...

That moon looks to me like it's getting too far away! I've got some straws here if anyone is up to helping suck it back!
where is Pareau when you need 'em?
Mybiddness, He does have beady eyes! [the pres that is!]

Yikes! Rawbunzel I almost missed this! I'm on my way to the discount store to buy a gross or two of straws... gettin the big fat kind too - lots more suction that way, I'm thinkin. I'll be busy taping them end to end all afternoon but will try to save my breath for the sucking party later tonight. Btw, if I remember correctly, Pareau thought we should use string... not his/her best idea - maybe a combination of both, heh?
As for Bush baby... you know what they say? Beady is in the eye of the beholder.
