I was just watching the daily interview with Ari Fletcher, White House Spokesperson on CNN. I seldom listen to him, because unlike Joe Lockheart who gave very concise and direct answers as common sense ruled, Ari Fletcher makes it a practice to obfuscate every question posed to him whatever it may be. Today's interview with the Press Corp was about Enron and every answer given was as if a totally different question had been asked. Not that the Press missed that, nor were their questions too piercing (as in contrast to questions posed by conservative reporters with the Clinton/Lewinski scandal.) Even the simplest of question was evaded: "Is the White House going to investigate consumer abuses by Enron in California?" You'd think that this would be answered in some way to someone's satisfaction -- even slightly. Forget it! The message is plain: "Don't Ask - Don't Tell!" when it comes to anything that the public wants, needs, and should know about what is going on in our government -- particularly at the White House!

Don't you love some of his pet answers to so many questions? "I'm not aware of that, I haven't been briefed on that, we're investigating that. Funny how he doesn't know much about anything.
