Hi, all. Watched a lot of Joan Rivers on QVC today, off and on, selling her jewelry. I just don't know what to think about her stuff. It looks mighty pretty on other (younger mostly) women but in my experience elaborate, fancy jewelry doesn't do anything for my appearance.

I keep thinking that there must be lots of women out there who dress up 'way more than I do and have some kind of social life where you even dress up for lunch with friends, wearing a suit and 3 pieces of fine jewelry, etc.

Has anyone ever bought one of her pieces, and does it last? Did it work for you?

Today she was selling four very pretty necklaces, I think called "torsades?" They are beautiful, but I know that if I were to buy them, and put one on, I'd feel like a Christmas tree ornament.

I like Joan, at times, and she really seems to be into her jewelry, very proud of it and sells it effectively. I just wonder sometimes if I'm that far behind the 8-ball. Could it be as simple as the fact that I'm in the West and she's in New York City? We are so much more casual out here. . . .

I like Joan Rivers' jewelry. I have purchased a couple of pieces over the years.

I really like her bracelets. I also have a choker with interchangeable enhancers.

I have never worn a piece of her jewelry that I have not had people comment on it.
Most tell me they like it, but who knows what they are really thinking????

I am not a casual person. Even though I live in a small town in south Texas! My Mom was a tailor (yes, she even made men's suits) and she also designed clothes (for a few people in our area and me). I loved it.

I prefer dresses. So, that's what I wear mostly. I also like pantsuits. I like blazers/jackets too. Have a ton of them and if I do wear jeans, I usually wear a blazer with them. I own 2 pair of jeans. I wear them maybe 3-4 times a year.

I am also one of those people who puts makeup on right after brushing my teeth and washing my face each morning.

It's just me and just about everyone around my parts knows that and actually the one time I didn't put on full warpaint before being seen in public, several people were concerned that I was ill!!!!

Right now, it's 8:28CST and I am fully spit and shined, wearing a skirt and blouse. Even have shoes on! That's about as casual as I get.

Oh, to answer your question about the durability of Joan's jewelry. I have had one piece about 4 years and it looks as good as the day I bought it. Just wipe it down with a soft cloth and store it in a baggy. That way it'll never loose it's shine.

How interesting that we all have such varied preferences in how we live and dress! Other than a wedding ring, I don't own a piece of jewlery. My favorite style is casual...bluejeans and a tee shirt and no significant make up.

For a special occasion I may wear a dress but jewlery would make me feel like a ostentacious peacock. Please understand that I don't view other people who wear jewlery as peacocks but that is just how I would feel wearing jewlery.

I avoid like the plague social affairs that require formal attire.

I wear jeans and slacks usually, but for "dress up" I'll wear dressy pants and a blazer or a dress. I have a few pieces of nice gold or silver jewelry, but most of mine is costume jewelry and I have an obscene amount of it. I've found that by wearing a simple outfit, I can get away with outrageous jewelry - usually bracelets. Who I envy are the women who can find occasions to wear hats. I'd buy hats if I had a place to wear them.

When I was younger I wore a lot more jewelry than I do now. I became allergic to anything but gold..poor me so I don't have near the amount of jewelry I had before. I like simple designs mostly but I do love to put a nice costume jewelry pin on my winter coat to make it less dreary. I have a huge collection of those. Never tried any of Joans jewelry but I have seen it and I think some of it is interesting and quite lovely. Too new for me ~ I tend to buy vintage pieces.

I love hats too!!! Unfortunately, they just don't do anything for me....WIGS on the other hand are my real weakness!

I got my first one waaaay back and never stopped wearing them, even when they fell out of fashion. They sort of became one of my trademarks.

Red ones (my favorites), blonde ones, long ones, short ones, culy and straight...I usually always have about 10 on hand, each one different.

A couple I have are actually made out of my own hair. It sure is nice to be able to stick my hair in a sink to soak while I do something else or roll it up and stick it in the corner to dry, pop on a different head of hair and I'm good to go. I never have a bad hair day!

I do think many of her pieces are just beautiful. A buyer called her yesterday and said she keeps her JR jewelry out on an old, pretty porcelain plate. I think that's what I'd do.

Maybe someday I'll bite the bullet and order of her things.
