I have a mavica fd95. T need to know how to take pics 8-10 feet away with good detail. Any help would be great!

I take lot's of pic's at that distance, when I do I zoom in for detail.
If you can't zoom in for some reason or the other, I think the main thing that will help is proper lighting. Do what you can to illuminate the item till you get the best possible pic!
Another thing you can do is: Let's say you need to get 10 feet away to get the item in the view finder,so then you can not zoom in as it will be too large. Then stand farther away like 20 feet, then zoom in to fill the view finder this will enlarge the item thus showing greater detail!

I just got one and my pics were grainy.
What I did was set on fine mode and also set Program AE to soft portrait mode...now my pictures are way way better. I found this info on Sony's website
And yes, the more light the better but not behind the subject.
It is a great camera, so much easier to use
