I know the problem and the corresponding feelings. You got to find someone to discuss it with that you can really, really trust and who might know a thing or two about a thing or two. Are you a good ol' boy, with a GP lawyer you know for a long time?

Good luck!

Contact your local Chamber of Commerce. There is an organization called SCORE which is made up of retired executives from many different fields. Run your idea past them. They will let you know if it is worthwhile or not.

Please be aware, however, that even if it sounds really good it still might not work. I just had a project I have worked on for the past year and a half die. It was incredible .... everything was in place. Only one problem ... it didn't work. It nearly cost me everything I own and it didn't work.

Oh, well. Life goes on. Time to drop back 10 and punt ... which is just what I am doing. Go back to what I do best and then come back to the project in 6 months with a fresh attitude.

I have over 20 years of experience in business. If you want me to look it over for you I will. Just email me. I have done extensive research on business plans, etc over the years.

Good luck to you. This is America, after all. Good things really can happen. It just takes hard work. Oh, and my father couldn't spell really well either, and he was incredibly successful. Mechanically and with woodworking he was a genius. When he painted a car you could see yourself in it ... every time! You can find someone who spells well and hire them to proofread for you. Or, have someone who cares about you check your spelling. Please DO NOT sell yourself short. Dad did that sometimes. I would give up my spelling abilities for just half of what he could do.

I know I'd be afraid that if I told anybody about my Pet Rock, who had the means to produce and distribute at their fingertips, they just might "steal" it. And TM's take years.............

It's like I've complained about on many an occasion. Our public school system only teaches our kids how to become good employees, not how to be in business for themselves. Heck, try going to out for a Business Degree at any Community College and once again, you'll learn how to be a good employee.

Image if alongside learning how to become a dependant, helpless employee, our kids also leanre how to make legitimate money on their own? That way, if the economy slumps and they get laid off or the Boss gets too outrageous, they can quit and go support themselves with a business at any time that they like. Sure would beat Welfare and all that!

I agree Borillar. Kids should be taught to be self employed and only use outside employment as a last resort. Self creative-ness is running down the drain imo.

OOPS! I didn't mean to come across as trying to steal someone's idea ... I was just trying to help. God knows my plate is already so full the stuff is spilling over the sides!

I have been self employed since I was 19 years old ... over half of my life. I have also concurrently held jobs as an employee but they were only to supplement my income as I built the businesses.

The truth of the matter is anything can be done. It is just how hard are you willing to work to become successful?

Research your item. Work on a business plan. You can do it!
