Now as part of the terrorist bill police in Michigan can come in and conduct a search and refuse to say why the are searching your home what they seek or even show you a copy of their search warrant much less leave you a copy.
Usually the states make laws like this using Federal guidelines. Anyone have this in other states?

Ashcroft/Bush trickle down effect. There are many known cases of the wrong house being raided. The first few times it happens and someone gets injured(on either "side" there will be hell to pay. It may go right back to the Supreme Court.

Heinlien had a scene in his book Stranger in a Strange Land where the cops drop in and do a warrantless search. It is well written. Why does everything depressing he predicted come true? Only one I can think of he missed is he predicted high school students striking for higher pay to go to school.

It is similar to the "No-Knock" Laws decreed by Republican ex-President Nixon. Withthose laws, a Search Warrant was a hinderance to efficient police investigation, and so, the Fourth Amendment of United States Constitution was overthrown. Believe me, Ashcroft and Bush have plenty of Republican presedence to do this crap.

What happened to the No KNock laws is kinda funny. The Supreme Court had been used to sitting back and collecting a paycheck when Nixon himself put several new Suprere Court Justices into office. They were pro-active, and to the absolute anger of all Republicans, the No Knock laws were overthrown and the Fourth Amendment reinstituted.

What it took the Supreme Court to act was indeed as stusi said: the police kept kicking down the wrong doors, roughing up solid citizens, and no having to say they were sorry or to make recompense in any way.

The difference these days is that the Supreme Court is Fascist. The people whom this new law is intended to affect are those that the Bush Regeime has already villanized; e.g. swarthy foreigners with those odd religous beliefs, Islam. Even if there is a cry and hue in Michigan, there will be little sympathy for the victims. After that, it is just a short jog down the road to removing the Fourth Amendment altogether.

"The chief sponsor of the bill in the state senate was Shirley Johnson (R-Royal Oak) while Bill Bullard (R-Highland Township) was a cosponsor. In the state House, Nancy Cassis (R-Novi) was among 20 sponsors."

You see? Republicans.

Why Republican *HATE* the United States Constitution is beyond me!

I'd rather that the Republicans all go move off to some large island where they can persecute each other and leave the rest of us alone!
