Briefly, Deep Throat was the name given to the White House source from which Washington Post investigative reporter, Bob Woodward received information. The name deep throat was taken from a recently released pornographic movie in 1972.
Deep Throat's secret meetings with Woodward led to Woodward's successful Watergate investigation and resulted the resignation of Richard Nixon.
