Is this in upholstery or in cabinets? Not sure if this would work but in a cabinet or chest you could put cedar chips in it. Or maybe burn some cone incense in it?

You could also try moth balls but then they kind of stink also.

If any of the furniture is upholstered, it might be a good idea to reupholster in order to eliminate odor which is usually caused by mildew. Cleaning the wood thouroughly will help. Somebody here will probably know a good cleaning solution for antiques.

It helps, of course, to keep the furniture in a well ventilated area with low humitity.

Sometimes the odor can be masked but it will return. I've had that experience with books.

Good Luck!

Deodorizing Antiques....to remove musty odors from antique cupboards and drawers, take some oil of wintergreen and rub it sparingly on the inside of the item.
When the wintergreen smell disappears, so should the musty odor.

The Detroit method is to put the furniture in a run down house, insure well, and burn the house down.

Dirt, Rot and mildew smells. It can't be covered up. Best option is to burn it up. hahaha!!!

You are very welcome RSMSPORTSGA.

If you are looking for information about a family heirloom, it may be a good idea to check in your yellow pages and find an expert in fine furniture refinishing and restoration.

Let your fingers do the walking.
