Anyone see this show? I was waiting for hubby to get off the pc (hes using mine, since his is broken at the moment), and watched it all the way thru this time (I have seen it before, surfing channels). This show is half disgusting, half interesting. Interesting in the way that one cant but help but look at a squashed bug, that is. What is with these girls that they have to make complete idiots of themselves to win the date by competing in such a degrading manner? I mean, come on. Most of them are gorgeous...so WHY do they have to do what they do in order for them to try winning?

I have seen this and other similar shows. Some just want to be on T.V. for various reasons. Others feel the shows really make an effort to get good matches. But most get humiliated on national T.V. just as they do on Springer etc. Mega-masochism complexes!

Hi stusi. Yes, some just want to be on TV, I suppose. But I dont get it...like tonights episode:

The guy tells the girls to take their panties off in the hot tub. They all do. Then he eliminates the ones that did because they would be good for a "one night stand" but not on a long term basis. What irritates me is, dont these girls SEE where the guy is coming from and understand they are just being used for fun? And dont they have pride? Its disgusting.

I have seen many women flash their boobs on these shows and many others apparently go to bed with their blind dates with no qualms about letting the world know. After watching Springer a few times nothing shocks me anymore.

Then there is 5th Wheel. That one is pretty bad too. I havent seen J.Springer in forever...nor do I want to. In fact, I dont watch many shows during the day at all except reruns of Law and Order, Judge Judy or one of the other court shows, and trading spaces.

I dont know Stusi...seems things are just getting worse and worse on tv. Heck, there isnt even a family hour anymore.

I wonder with all the sexuality on the tube whether or not the effect has been scientifically determined. I don't mean by Falwell or the ultra-right-moralists but by an impartial study. I saw a news story on T.V. about kids grinding at their proms and other school dances in a way that even we of the wild 60's never did. This prompted a school adminstrator to do a "thong check" of several high school girls.

There was a story in the local paper about high school girls who go to motel rooms after the prom, and the trouble they get in. YOu cant even watch MTV or other video shows anymore either. They all hump and grind and bump and slurp all over each other. Girls with girls, boys with boys, boys and girls, one girl and lots of boys, one boy and lots of girls. In short, nothing but sex. And it aint stopping there, either. Some big department store is now selling thongs (panties) for kids aged 7 and 10 that have "wink wink" on them..or other "cute" sayings. Times sure have changed when we were kids. But thats the same thing MY parents said when the Beatles did their thang, and Elvis humped his hips.

You just have to try to raise your own with good morals but allow them to be hip enough so they are not ridiculed. When you combine this behavior with drugs like ecstasy anything can happen.

Which is why I spend a fortune at Blockbuster renting old movies. Christ, there's not even a kid's daytime TV action show without a woman in a thong and super-enhanced bust line. It is Fellini-esque.

You guys have forgotten the cardinal rule: kids are hip and parents are square. Kids doing drugs and having sex? OH MY GOD!!!

nycyn-That's a good description! Almost like watching something on a softcore adult video and then realizing it's being broadcast during primetime on national T.V.!

twinsoft- 60's redux! It's strange how we view it when it comes to our kids.

Hi twinsoft! Yeah..scarey thought, aint it? We all turned into OUR parents! ACK!!!

But when we were growing up, we didnt dare hump and grind like they are doing now. I wonder what the world wil be like when these kids we are talking about have kids of their own? That is, IF there is a world left.

BTW, I knew I got old when my purse got bigger. And hubby..when he stands around now at the market or just jabbering to someone, he jiggles the change in his pockets just like an old man does. And chats with telemarketers when they call...even when he calls the electric company to turn on power for "clean and show" on one of the apartment, he asks the person on the other end how the weather is. Just like my dad used to do and I would roll my eyes
