Since 9-11 I have noticed many different colors, patterns and arrangement in turbans Middle Eastern men wear. They remind me of tartans.
Does anyone know the significance of meaning in a turban.

That question once took up about three weeks of a friend and coworker and my time.
We were both auto mechanics for the postal service and worked in the garage at a large CA postal facility where each day we observed a turban wearing employee come to work in the main building with a different colored turban each day - sometimes pink, white, blue, orange, and maybe a couple more that I don't remember.
We tried to figure a pattern to it, to find whether there might be a particular color required on particular days and after weeks of observations and recordings of colors and days we couldn't make any sense of it.
So I decided one day that it was enough of that and told my friend that we needed to just go ask him, and we did - went into the building, found him, and confronted him. I asked, telling him all that we'd gone through trying to figure it out, and he answered in the lilt that Sikh people have: "Oh, it's just whatever color I feel like putting on each day".
The two of were stopped cold. Just looked at each other, thanked him and walked away.

How you doing krs?
I thank you, walk away and shake my head, too.
To think that that has been driving me crazy all this time and I have watched the news endlessly hoping that they would do a story on turbans. They've done stories on everything else. Guess I know why they haven't broached the subject now.
Jeesh, I thought they had some mysterious meaning. What a bummer.

LOL. So did we. That moment when we looked at each other without saying the obvious "F___ Me!" is one of my favorite memories of a guy who I still think of as the finest person I've ever known. We got had by our own imaginations.

Actually, there is a difference in the shape and style. One of the news channels did a slide show on the different styles, shapes, and colors. I've also seen it on the internet.
