Yesterday, for the fifth time in the last two weeks, we bombed Iraq. The latest target was an Iraqi radar/missile facility that had fired on one of our planes "near" their airspace. This is another of many such incidents in the area that seem to go virtually unreported. Is it because of an intentional downplay by Bush or because it is really of no consequence?

It's been reported on the AP site. If they're shooting surface-to-air missiles at our planes [although none have hit their intented targets] then it doesn't surprise me that we're firing back to take out their radar sites.

stusi,

When I checked the topics this morning, the first thing that I saw was, "We have been bombing Iraq!

Whew....and all you wanted to really know was, "Is it of no consequence?'

LOL!

In the meantime, we have this profound observation of our President.

"The suicide bombings have increased. There's too many of them."

It was election day here when the planes hit. I remember Bush's first official comment to the American people. "I'll look into it."

"I'll look into it." I went around reassuring people at a poll with this one.

Stusi,

We have been bombing Iraq for quite awhile. I received 2 requests for information at the Visitor's Center where I work from Wasit, Iraq last year, one in July and one right after the Anthrax stuff started (early October?). I didn't think anything about it in July but after the one in early October I decided to find out where Wasit was. Most of what I found were articles on the U.S. and Britain bombing a missile site there the Sunday before 9-11.

Makes you wonder.

Not to worry: Bush will never gain the support that he needs to invade Iraq. The American people aren't for it, the Arab Nations aren't for it, and for sure Iraq isn't for it - only Bush is for it. I wouldn't worry about it.

Borillar,

I know you don't believe in polls because your quotes about what the public believes always seem to be the opposite of what the people tell the pollsters. The public, like Congress, is impatient because the administration has said Hussein goes at the end of the year when weapon stockpiles are replenished and the weather is easier on the troops. That is unless they announced something different lately.

I don't believe it. I think that Bush will get right up to the starting line, but he'll never cross it.
