We all see many references to "women and children"; "women and children"; "women and children."

And when ever I see that line I can't read it without noticing men are left out. As if the default position is that it is okay to kill men.

You mean without considering age or combatant status?
Like in the Bible when they went in the city and they said to put to the sword anyone urinating against a wall. That would mean from about 3 years old +.

"We were told there were no friendly forces," said Guckenheimer, an assistant gunner with the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum. "If there was anybody there, they were the enemy. We were told specifically that if there were women and children to kill them."

Save this article for the next time that some bozo here in the RT tells you that the American Millitary has NEVER ordered the indiscriminate killing of women and children! If you don't bookmark that page now, you won't be able to use it then!

"As if the default position is that it is okay to kill men."

Thank you ncyc for pointing that out. While men are the traditional fighters, the historical fighting role of women is still only slowly being rediscovered in our culture. But none of us should feel relieved when the news reports that "the enemy was killed, but no women or children were killed." You know, you don't have to kill someone to stop them from acting stupidly.

I know exactly what you mean, Nycyn. Men are never mentioned but you and I know that they are the most important of all.

LOL!

I know what ncyc meant. And I do think that men get the short end of the stick more often than it is popular to say so. That ncyc and Helen LIKES men is nice to hear coming from women once in a while, as I get tired of male-bashing all the time.
