We took a week of vacation sight-seeing close to home. We saved the Titanic Exhibit until the last day; saving the best for last. It advertised "100's" of relics from the Titanic.

Well, let's just say "not." There was a lot of empty floor space, reproductions of the 1st and 3rd class hallways, repros of 1st & 3rd class bedrooms. Not very many relics. A lot of dark rooms and a mini iceberg so you could touch and see how cold the water might have been that fatal night. They had vcr's playing scenes from the recovery that I've already seen on Discovery Channel.

The best thing in the exhibit was when we touched a huge piece of the ship's hull that was hanging from the ceiling.

Oh yeah, even though you paid for a tour, you couldn't HEAR the tour unless you paid $5 per person for headphones. You just walk through and try to read little tags over everyone else's shoulders. Nice for people over 7' tall.

I saw and learned more from the Titanic CD-rom game (with 3D environment) than I did from the exhibit. I highly recommend the game, but not the exhibit - that is unless you want to touch the hull.

or, "touch the Bull!"

They still plan on raising the Titanic from her watery grave. That's capitalism in its more grotesque form. Let's hope that someone "raises" up the graves of those entreprenuer's parents and family and show them off for money and see if there isn't some sort of limit to capitalism that consists of decency.

I touched the moon rock at the Smithsonian.
I wonder how many people can touch it before it is gone?

I wouldn't hazard a guess of how long the Smithsonian will be standing or how many people will be left to touch the rock....IF
it's there to touch.
