The Corpus Christi Diocese has exercised a 1999 decision to ban Pro-Choicers from speaking at their churches. Both the Democratic candidates for Governor and Lt. Governor have been banned despite declaring they are personally Pro-Lifers but believe a woman has the right to choose.

A church is a poor place to have any political speech. If they are into politics they should loose their tax status.

Banned by the Catholic Church might not be such a bad thing now.

Odd in Corpus, because most of the local politicos are Dems. But, there is a strong fundamentalist base there also. Lester Roloff, Operation Rescue, there's certainly been more than enough fruitcakes to spread around to some deprived area.

"despite declaring they are personally Pro-Lifers but believe a woman has the right to choose."

LOL! stusi! Now THERE's some Real Political Balarney! A voter dances on the edge of a coin, but a poltician dances on both sides of the coin at the same time!

What do you expect its a Catholic Church

Did the Pope ever lift the 'ban' on birth control yet? Or is it still the ryhthm method?

Been a long time since I've been involved with the Church.

I see nothing contradictory about being Pro-Life and still allowing choice. That is the way I feel. I think abortion is wrong, so personally, I will never have one. Well, really I couldn't because I'm a guy. BUT IF I COULD, I wouldn't. But that is as far as it goes. Everyone else is entitled to their own life....

"If it were the men that got pregnant, there would be absolutely no question on the legality of abortion! Not only would it be legal, it would be paid for by the government!"

Heard that in order to pay for the lawsuits (current and pending) the church is going to cut back on the programs for the poor and under privileged instead of getting rid of the clergy's perks.

Some are not happy that the church has refused communion and other things to people who was "disobeying" their laws but yet were allowing perverts to go without punishment and continue to do so.

And yet, these misdeeds and incongruities pale in comparison to the shenanigans pulled off daily by Protestant Fundie groups. At least the Catholics aren't trying to invade our school boards in order to put their religious agenda into your kid's brains! And while they do hold some sway in Congress, remember that the Republican Party is largely Protestant Fundies and we all know how "moral" they are there, doing what they are doing to this country!

Still, it may very well repeal the Catholic Church's influence in America for some time to come.

Christianity in America has turned into a place for creeps and perverts. I don't want religious creeps tring to brainwash my kids in school and I don't want perverts putting their hands on my kids in church.
