Toby Keith was scheduled to headline the ABC's 4th of July celebration, but Jennings gave him the boot because he thought Toby's song "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue" was too angry according Jennings.

American girls
And American guys
We'll always stand up and salute
We'll always recognize
When we see ole' glory flyin'
There's a lot of men dead
So we can sleep in peace at night
When we lay down our heads

My daddy served in the army
When he lost his right eye
But he flew a flag out in our yard
Till the day that he died
He wanted my mother
My brother
My sister and me
To grow up and live happy
In the land of the free

Now there's places that I love
That's fallen under attack
A mighty sucker punch came flyin' in
From somewhere in the back
Soon as we could see clearly
Through our big black eye
Man we lit up your world
Like a Fourth of July

Hey Uncle Sam put your name at the top of his list
And the Statue of Liberty started shaking her fists
And the people will fly
And it's gonna be hell
When you hear Mother Freedom start ringing her bells
And It'll feel like the whole wide world
Is raining down on you
Ohhh....
Brought to you courtesy...
Of the RED, WHITE, and BLUE

Oh..Justice will be served
And the battle will rage
This big dog will fight
when you rattle his cage
You'll be sorry that you messed with
the U S of A
Cause we'll put a boot in your ass
It's the American way

Hey Uncle Sam put your name at the top of his list
And the Statue of Liberty started shaking her fists
And the people will fly
And it's gonna be hell
When you hear Mother Freedom start ringing her bells
And It'll feel like the whole wide world
Is raining down on you
Ohhh....
Brought to you courtesy...
Of the RED, WHITE, and BLUE

Ohhh...
Ohhh....
Brought to you courtesy...
Of the RED, WHITE, and BLUE

What a juxtaposition. I remember when they used to ban anti-war songs.

Sure sounds an awful lot like a 1989 song sung by a disabled vietnam vet at the dedication of the Vietnam and Korean welcome home memorial In Iron Mountain Mi.

went something like this

I see daddy crying as he's watching the news.
Their burning his pride the red white and blue
the one his daddy died for back in world war two,
Granpaw gave his life for the red white and blue.

America Lets Fight for the red white and Blue
through Hell and High water shes been there for you.
Stand up for old glory
help dry daddys eyes
stand up for those who have died.

In Iwo Jim She stood strong in the breeze,
Over heads of our heroes she gave them peace
she stood out for victory and now she needs you.

America Lets Fight for the red white and Blue
through Hell and High water shes been there for you.
Stand up for old glory
help dry daddys eyes
stand up for those who have died.

Yes I believe in the freedom of speech,
I also believe practice all that you preach,
Being patriotic is not something new,
America lets stand for the red white and blue

She stood up for victory and now she needs you.
America lets fight for the red white and blue.

I'm sorry to say that the years prevent me from remembering more of the song

the singer was red Oakley and the band shiloh
they donated their time to dedicate the memorial Jets from KI sawyer air force base got ''lost '' that day and accidnetly fired their cannons over the dedication. that base by the way the only thing in central Northern USa protecting us was closed by that hero Clinton. Now My family is protected by a fence. Good move genius.

the filp side of the cassette was a tear jerker called Dear santa claus was as good as anything red sovine ever did in fact every person who ever heard the tape though it was him.

last I knew they were at Bonzai studios Neenah Wisconsin
