“A deathbed conversion” was Rep. John LaFalce, D-N.Y.’s description of the Republican move.
Democrats accused GOP leaders of reversing themselves only because Americans’ confidence in business and the markets has become badly shaken and the issue of corporate accountability is resonating in this congressional election year.
Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., told the Republicans: “You’re trying to jump on the bandwagon at the last minute when you should have been there a long time ago.”
Democrats said the House bill fell short. They objected to it being rushed through to passage without giving them the chance to propose amendments.

After the 97-0 vote Monday, Mr. Bush put the best face on the breaking of GOP ranks. "I am pleased the Senate has now acted on a tough bill that shares my goals and includes all of the accounting and criminal reforms I proposed," he said."
So now he's trying to give the impression that the much tougher Sarbanes bill reflects his proposals. LOL. He's running a little scared.

I wonder, if they ever started telling the truth, would informants from the TIPS network turn them in for unusual and suspicious behavior?

My eyes twist everytime I try to read that. Do you think Bush's Bushisms come from Air Fletcher?

As far as Bush being tough on CEOs, that's a real laugh! Last week, the media reported that all that Bush was doing was doubling the fines already in existance and that the Democratic Senate was proposing new penalities and sanctions and it was being rejected by the Republicans. Now it's reversed, trying to make the Democrats look weak. LOL! But after this next election this Fall, we'll see if Bush even provides money for the new laws to be enforced.

I saw wierd polls results on the news this morning:
70% approval rating for how Bush is running the Gov't.
63% think others are controlling the Gov't
That means only 7% think Bush is running things well and a majority are pleased as punch he isn't.
