Another Loss of Privacy

Now medical records may be shared with insurance companies and HMOs without the patients approval. Ostensibly this authority was given to the insurance industry to make it more "convenient" for the patient. Relieving patients of this privacy is really intended to protect the insurance companies...the biggest corporate crooks in America. Can you believe that insurance companies care about inconveniencing customers? The article states that "Health care providers celebrated the changes." Can you imagine why they are so happy?

"In a recent speech, Terry McAuliffe, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, said the White House seemed to worry less about the privacy of medical records than about the secrecy of Vice President Dick Cheney's energy task force."

"Under this administration, Mr. McAuliffe said, "it's O.K. to reveal personal medical information about the American people, but when the oil companies meet with policy makers to ask for special favors, that's guarded like a state secret."

excerpt above from another article....

That analogy conclusively sums up the entire value system of this administration.
