My dear mother -in-law has Alzheimer's so bad she can not function normally at all anymore. I am surprised she even pays any attention to the news anymore. Yet when President Bush was on TV tonight she wrinkled up her nose and said "I know they keep saying that new guy is President, but he doesn't look like a President and he doesn't sound like a President.

I have to agree with your MIL.
PS How''s the diet going? I found an article in the NYTimes magazine where some Harvard researchers were researching the Atkins Diet in a positive light. You have the right to an informed opinion -Harlan Ellison

After 2 weeks I lost 13 pounds. I feel fine - not like I am on a diet. I don't have any cravings and I don't feel tired. I did briefly the second day, and my wife joined me and feel tired and had a headache the third and fourth day for her. But now she feels fine. I am getting better at making a varied menu. I had scrambled eggs with tofu and bacon for breakfast. I was not hungery midday so I just had about a dozen cashews. For supper we had a spinich and romaine salad with tomato, blue cheese, hard boiled eggs, some diced lean bacon, some greek olives and a home made olive oil and vinegar dressing. Also baby back ribs and a roasted chicken that we did not clean up by a long ways. I made our own low carb. BBQ sauce.
I need to get one of those non-stick fish baskets or trays for grilling fish. We both really like swordfish and mahi-mahi but it falls apart too easy on the grill.
Tomarrow I am going to make low carb clam chowder with real cream.

13 lbs in 2 weeks is excellent. And it sounds like your meals are satisfying. That seems to be the hardest part of dieting, from what I hear.
For fish, I've been sauteing on my cast iron griddle that is just about nonstick. I came up with a new lime garlic (heavy on the garlic) marinade for chicken and my tofu that everybody in the house loves. The kids don't like macaroni, but they'll scarf this stuff up like starving dogs. You have the right to an informed opinion -Harlan Ellison

snowbird: For more bang for the calorie (energy and satiation) it is good to get a litle fruit sugar along with the protein. e.g. Eggs, a little OJ or an apple or piece of fruit. Or a piece of chicken, and. Particularly at breakfast.
Our payroll secretary is eating every time I see her, and not celery either. She's on Weight Watchers and she's lost 40 lbs. in the last year and she was not grossly obese. I didn't know that until she told me (about her weight loss) when I was riding her about her eating every time I saw her.

gravid - get a George Foreman tabletop electric grill to cook your fish!
They're about $25. at Target for the small one that cooks for two. Fish is done in about 5 min, since it cooks on both sides, no need to turn it.
Great for cooking all of your protein - chicken breasts, bacon, brats (I'm in Wisconsin). Brats burn too much on the charcoal grill with all the fat in them. On the Foreman grill, they get nice and brown.
Easy clean up since it's teflon coated. Also a good gift for those college students or older folks who just have to cook for one or two.
Yikes, that's enough, I'm sounding like an infomercial!

Alas, I have no diet tips.
My mother, 85, says the same thing about Bushy. She is sharp as a tack and always has been. She also notices how he walks with his elbows out like he's one of those critters trying to make himself look bigger by puffing up.

I love my Forman grill... But the secret to grilling anything is to make sure the grill is really hot before putting the meat on it. That could be why your swordfish and Mahi are falling apart.
