.....Nearly a year later. Sounds more like something you'd hear at an archeological dig. Hard to realize these are our ancestor's remains, these are our family's remains (none of my family affected).

I hope it resolves someone's need for something to bury.

Seems to me that in this situation it would be better to not have found one bone to bury. What a reminder of the way they died.If my family member had been blown to bits and scattered about I'd rather not have a piece to bury.I'd rather think they were vaporized.Finding bits is very morbid. I know that's all they found of anyone but I can't really see how a "bit" helps the family when they know the person is dead and gone. Why do the dna thing? What does it do to add "closure" [I hate that term] since you already know the person is gone?

Hi Rawbunzel --

I'd seen an interview a while back where they interviewed family members who were still waiting on (or had just received) notification involving family members...and most were happy to get back anything they could, be it a limb, digit, part of a scalp (sorry), just anything so they could have a real burial. I don't think it gave them closure, but it did give them verification that their loved ones were indeed dead.

And again yesterday. Three "bone fragments" on the roof of the Deutsche building.

And yesterday the MTA's subcontractors, who've been rebuilding the subway tunnels, were boasting that they accomplished in something like three months what they estimated would take three years!

Way to go!

I think it was yesterday that two families were interviewed because two men have shown up in New York hospitals.

I only saw part of it, but one couldn't remember the tragedy and I am not sure about the other.

Nycyn, there was a news talk show a week or so ago where a therapist said a disaster like the towers might take up to two years to recover from for some people. It may be awhile yet before you start feeling a little better.

I believe these were denizens-of-the-street. I feel pretty sure there are some victims that no one has looked for.

So it goes.
