Yeah - well I had the same thing as a kid. My mother and father had no concept of a sunburn being damaging. Nobody did then. I have had a couple patches cut off of me because of the skin cancer also.
I also grew up asthmatic in a house full of tobacco smoke and missed a lot of school because of that.
How do you legislate against stupid?
The evidence seems to be that foster care is often no better than the abusive home from which kids are removed - so there is no real advantage to removal except to create a flow of public money to benefit another administrative structure.

Gravid, I'm sorry to hear that. What struck me about the articles was the original three felony counts, which were later reduced to one misdemeanor. Ironically, the sheriff said he was trying to "help" the woman. Throwing her in jail for 15 years is helping ... how?
I was at this year's county fair and it was pretty hot. Nobody got sunburned though. I'd hate to think I could spend 15 years in jail over it. That is definitely exaggerated, IMO.
I admire the woman's spunk. She didn't cop a plea.
