The KEO Organization has invited the entire world to participate, via the written word, in its time-capsule satellite venture -- for free. You are allowed 6,000 characters; your message is saved directly from their website. The satellite launches in 2003, and will be programmed to return to earth 50,000 years from now. Surprise your descendants!

Welcome back Pat.

A nice idea, but what happens if the satellite comes(gets taken) down before 500 centuries? Maybe in a few years? Since the notes will not be censored, imagine what many will choose to say thinking that there will be no way for their words to be read by any now living. Confessions(O.J.?), secrets(nycyn's multiple identities), accusations(Al Gore's true feelings?) etc.

LOL, Snowy, you're clearly not getting into the spirit of the endeavor! And you, Stusi, prone to see every dank eventuality, have ruined the program before the satellite has even left earth!

What's the deal? Can't either of you come up with a 1,000-word statement to justify your existence? Do we need to pool our character allotment? -- Gather together 100,000 or so characters and form one cohesive 5,000-word message? Hah! As if that would be possible! Thousands upon thousands of characters are squandered here every day... how could we ever agree to include more than the periods, dots, and dashes that all too frequently -- and improperly -- punctuate them?

Heh, can we really have a quiet moment to exchange "howdy-do's" in this thread without all hogaboom tarnation breaking out??? Honest-to-God, Junque, I was bored and lonely last night and on a whim I clicked my way through to AW. When I saw that you had started a thread, I just knew I had to post -- but I had no idea that I'd wind up having my old DNF mouth shoot off before I could simply say HOWDY to you, hahaha!

How the heck are YOU?

The DNF has really changed, ebay was knocking people off that board right and left. Those guys have to worry about every word they type now. Nothing like our times there.

Well, Junque, you're one-up on me! I haven't been able to look at the DNF since eBay told me not to and I've gotten pretty good about lookin' in on this sorry RT place just twice a year. Phooey, though! I miss the good times of VeryModern posting worthwhile threads and you swinging down from the rafters to rattle off a bunch of star stuff in code and posting your cartoons and chewing out "junkson". Ah, hahaha! Them was fun times, Junque, and if I don't run into you for another six months or a year, always know that I'll be delighted to *see* ya whenever I do.
