What timing! The one year anniversary of 9/11 with the neverending rehash of that tragedy interspersed with mention of Sadamm Hussein.
Now, in my neighborhood, Washington DC, the Pentagon is surrounded with live anti-aircraft missiles - major roads are closed and Cheney has headed for the mountains.
It looks like a marketing campaign and that's exactly what it is - for the inevitable invasion of Iraq.

I think Congress should form a human barricade on the facade of the Capital today to protect the hallowed stones with their soft little bodies. It would be easily as dramatic as when they all rushed out on the steps to recite the pledge damn their black flabby little hearts.

I will bet those "black flabby little hearts"
aren't even close to the Capitol building today. They may not have gone back to their districts, but they probably hit the mountains too.
Cheney had said he would be in Washington for today I believe. Right. Like they didn't know the threats would start flying.
The media circus (including NPR & newspapers) has been going full throttle for at least a week. Like the terrorists here don't watch the stupid networks or read. The MEDIA has been working everyone into a frenzy. Stupid.

Yeah, as though terrorists who gave everyone the surprise of his or her life a year ago would choose today when the govt. is on maximum alert rather than pick another day and use the element of surprise.

I live too close to the Nuke plants, and mid day yesterday, army jets flying over the sky low, the sound was enough to give us the creeps, they said the terriosts were trying to send us a message of fear- heck what is our gov't doing!
We all know this is probably the safest day of the year- and the way I see it if they hit the Nuke plants well it's to late to do anything anyway right- they are not even having all the workers go in today!
All in all a sad day today

Progression of Bush Agenda...
"For Bush, memorializing the Sept. 11 victims will be only one of today's goals. Tonight in New York, with the Statue of Liberty as backdrop, Bush will address the nation in a speech designed to rekindle the spirit of patriotism and national unity that swelled after last year's attacks."
"Thursday, in an address to the U.N. General Assembly, Bush hopes to shift some of that resolve to Iraq. In a crucial speech to the United Nations, the president will challenge the world community to join his campaign to oust Iraqi President Saddam Hussein."

This is such disrespect on the part of Bush's blatant media hype that they are fully shaming all of us. What ought to be a silent, respectful rememberance is being shouted with Bush's plans to move ahead in making an unprovoked attack on Iraq! And someone will quote me six months from now on this, but I'll say it anyway: someone ought to go beat the crap out of whoever dreamed up this odious and obvious ploy for political gain. Wasn't it enough that the Republicans totally disgraced the United States Constittuion by spitting on it when they Impeached Clinton as a pure political ploy? With the Republican's claim to DO ANYTHING IT TAKES to get Power, we haven't seen the last of this -- unless we all vote Independant, that is.

Clinton 1998
Saddam Hussein must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons.
I want to explain why I have decided, with the unanimous recommendation of my national security team, to use force in Iraq; why we have acted now; and what we aim to accomplish.

PClady, I have a question for you: how does Clinton's response relate to Bush's unprovoked attack on Iraq, considering that the world has changed so drastically since then with the 9-11 attack and the Afghan Campaign to Rid Stumbling Blocks to Bush Oil Pipeline? I'd be happy to hear how you'll compare the two.
I'm willing to listen.
