If there are any here I am wondering about the Senator's plane that went down.

It appears it ran into the ground still on what it's pilot thought was the proper glide path with the engines running OK. It was only 500 foot visability in a freezing rain and light snow - so they had to be making an instrument approach.

What I am wondering is - if someone went out there with say a van and radio equipment that could transmit on the same frequency as the radio used for guiding the plane in could they throw the pilot off of his line by transmitting an extra signal to one side of the proper one?

gravid - I'm not a pilot. [no kidding] and I haven't read any news today so I don't know what's being reported. But what I did watch was a pilot being interviewed about this crash, yesterday, who said the plane was old [I believe he said it was a 1976] AND that this isn't the first time this type of plane has had control problems [and crashed]. It had something to do with the controls...but like I said I know nothing about planes.

I'm just finding it so difficult to understand why so many here believe the republicans are behind the death of Senator Wellstone when so many republicans who have been interviewed speak so highly of him. Appear to have tremendous respect for him...etc.

It was a terrible accident. I do hope we hear soon what may have been the cause.

Yes Gravid, even a ham operator of limited experience could do that.

"The Beechcraft King Air 200, has been in production since 1974 and is the best selling turbine business aircraft in history. ""The King Air model 200 has established an exceptional reputation with its reliability and versatility," commented Doug Mahin, the marketing vice president for Raytheon Aircraft Company. "The airplane is known throughout the world for its durable performance and capabilities. This is particularly evident when you consider the variety of customers who rely on the airplane commercial business, special mission operators, military transport departments, flight training organizations and other users." (Mark Schaible, Aeronautica Editor).

I am loath to jump on the bandwagon stating that not Republicans, but certain parties within the Republican Party may have had a hand in this. I can see where it all looks mighty suspicious, what with the Republicans constantly stating that they will use every means at their disposal to take absolute power in America (at all costs), and that the ONLY thing holding them back so far is control of the Senate, AND the dirty shenanigans pulled off by these parties within the Republican party before, I'd agree that it looks suspicious. However, I just can't bring myself to believe that Americans would do this to Americans. Of course, there was the CIA assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

Actually, one last thought on this. Wells' replacement is likely to be ex-Vice Pres Walter Mondale and if he does run and if he does win, we'll all be in hot water!

Why?

Think about it.

First, Carnahan gets killed in a very tight re-election campaign. Carnahan's wife runs and wins resoundingly. Wells, also in a tight race, gets killed and Walter Mondale wins resoundingly. See the point?

No?

Well, image what "They" (the political election machines) will be concluding from all of this. IF there is a tight race, THEN you knock off your party's candidate to ensure a complete victory! And once one party does it (most likely Democrats), then the Republicans will get pizzed because they didn't have the savvy to think it up themselves, they will then join in the same game. Pretty soon, you'll see political candidates sweating like crazy when the polls get too close and the party starts eyeing them funny. The candidates from both sides will work themselves so hard on the campaign trail that they might also die from exhaustion, thereby ensuring their party's victory in the election. It's a win-win situation for the political parties and a whole lot cheaper than advertisements on TV. You can't beat the free publicity surrounding a dead politician! What a sorry state of affairs it is that we'll all have!

Yes. This fall, DON'T vote Democrat in Minnesota - save the lives of innocent politicians!
