Just really curious.
Is there anyone out there that really believes the chant of the news shows if, if, if they go to war with Iraq? Really? - Are they are going to spend millions and millions of dollars to move all these troops and planes and ships and decide not to use them? Maybe a 6 or 7 year old kid that's kinda sheltered will buy that?

Seems as insulting to our intelligence as the, "We want to talk with these people but they are not suspects." crap. Do they think the morons are gonna run down to the PD and say "What ya wanna talk about?"

And there's not much chance of that happening.

The UN is estimating as many as 500,000 will be injured or killed in this war.

Have any of you seen a movie called "The Dead Zone" with Christopher Walken? I re-watched it last night & was struck by how much the Stimson character reminded me of Bush. There's a scene the guy, as President, screams that *he* does the thinking & makes the decisions for the country & that this is his destiny--then forces a general to help him run the codes to start the missiles flying...just as advisors come in saying that a diplomatic solution is possible...

Three million across the country will face "dire" malnutrition and will require "therapeutic feeding.

Roads, bridges and railroads will be shattered with electricity grids damaged and it's oil industry battered and paralyzed.

If it isn't a done deal then the U.S. is spending a lot of time (and money) making you think it is.

Of course it is a done deal. It was a done deal as soon as Bush was put in office.

I suspect that the White House is actually looking for a way to come out smelling like a rose on this one. They have shoved both feet into Bush's mouth (with his ardent cooperation, of course) and we can't back off now without loosing face. Americans *HATE* leaders make them loose face!

So what will he do, what is he hoping for. The Bush Camp is looking for some way to get Saddam to "fess up" and to "repent" and provide some cover for Bush. If Saddam does that, Bush will retract the millitary threat. If Saddam does not, then America may be entering a War that it is unwilling to f fight (except for those who don't have to go to War or send their kids into batlle to die horribly multilated agonizing deaths!)

If Bush goes in now, without any Moral Authority, without any proof of any connection whatsoever with terrorists (namely Al-Queda whom we are supposed to be at War with -- remember them?), without any plausible way that Saddam could ever attack us, even provide contrary evidence that he even wants to, then the Republicans are going to be hit H*A*R*D by the American people.

That is why Bush needs Saddam's cooperation. It's, "You do for me and I'll do for you - for now."

That's part of the game. He's putting pressure on Saddam and if you listen to the wording used to the Iraqi Ambassador and such, that's what Bush is asking for, in so many words.

No, I don't believe it's a done deal at this point. There isn't enough popular support for war with Iraq. Bush has shown no evidence of Iraq's WOMD program.

We're not talking about ousting Saddam from Kuwait. We're talking about a protracted ground war with possibly thousands of American casualties. Resulting in a regime change that would require an American military presence in Iraq, and economic support, for years to come. Without further evidence, it would be political suicide for Bush to attack Iraq.

However, speaking as an Israeli, I would like nothing better than to see Saddam out. Israel already stopped Saddam's nuclear program once, and it's clear Saddam would draw Israel into a war if it served his purpose.

I said at the time, Bush's tough talk on terrorism was nothing but hot air. Bush caved in to Saudi Arabia at the first chance he got. So much for nations that support terror. Right now Bush doesn't know whether to #*!@ or get off the pot.

"how much the Stimson character reminded me of Bush."

How about The Omen?

This is what I think the plan is.

Iraq is the biggest fish in the area that can be taken out.

The US takes out Saddam. Builds up this amazing Democracy, model Democracy, and gives big chunks of Iraq's own oil money to its people. Spends its way to peace with the idea being that citizens of Iran, Syria, etc, decide that maybe there is a better way and topple these crackpot fundamentalist regimes one by one.

There's no way they could do that with Iran. And Syria is a joke.

Iraq is the cookie. If Iraq goes Western so will all the other countries out of sheer jealousy. Turn Iraq into a WWII like rebuild of Japan and Germany.

Cut a deal with Mr. Putin, share the wealth with the friendly Europeans, make the Iraqi citizen's happy, hell maybe Saddam will even get to live through this.

Stabalize oil prices world wide and maybe even break OPEC's back. Not too shabby, huh? Then watch the world economy go zooming and who makes the most loot in the end? Mr. Bush, his fellow Rebublicans and their close buddies.

This is a situation that is looking for outs on both sides.

Sure a few bombs will be dropped and a few hundred thousand people will be killed, (Democrats and Fundamentalists don't count dontcha know) but there'll be very many smiling Republicans and their friends all over.

Of course I can be completely wrong and just plain cynical....

I was at my doctor's office the other day. His office manager asked me if I thought we are going to war with Irag.

I told her that I didn't really know, but some feel within the next month we will.

She said, they (the US military) are starting to bring in medical staff members, and that is not a good sign.

It's just as I suspected. Now that weapons can't be found they are considered "hidden".

Only way that will work is if they take all the mullahs out and shoot them in the back of the head.

Paridise might be very crowded until they can add some dimensions and a few more houris.

Actually, Saddam being a secularist, has had more mullahs shot than in any other country in the world. That's one reason why trying to tie him to Al-Queda and other fundamentalist Islamic terrorist groups is so laughable.

I think we all are forgetting a big "THANK YOU" we should be offering to the Reagan-Bush regimes (ole Snoozy & the Lip-Reader) for the billions they spent to equip Iraq with arms!

A corrupt foreign policy spawned by typically morally corrupt right-wingers coming home to roost & poo-poo on top of Dumbo's empty head -- "Thanks Daddy!"

According to Fox News this morning, we've got another problem.

Seems that a company in Russia has been selling Iraq GPS systems. They have the potential to block any bombs [Jdams] we might fire in a war. It was stated that approx. 80% of all our bombs are Jdams...and that these blocking devices could/might send the bombs in a direction other than what was intended. The map of Iraq that was shown, shows where the Russian's have suggested these 'jammers' be placed. [All around the perimeter of Iraq.]

Then on top of that, our intelligence is reporting that there's a possibility that Russia has been trading intelligence information with Iraq.

So....this may delay things for a while, although troops continue to be sent to the Persian Gulf.

Along with Haliburton(Cheney) for rebuilding them after Gulf Wars, Episode I, in preperation for Gulf Wars, Episode II. Haliburton again stands to profit tremendously.

Just a Note to Linda K....

GPS stands for Global Positioning System. GPS systems is kinda redundent. I believe what you meant(HEY! did you know that "meant" is the only word in the English language that ends in "nt." ) to say was GPS jamming systems.....
