The current embroglio is not a new thing nor even the worst of it's kind. There once was another "neoHitller" in the middle east who had the hawks of the world flapping their wings. shrieking and squawking much as is heard today.
But a better man was the President of the United States. A man who could never be called meek; a man fully familiar with the reality (rather than the idea) of war. Look what happened:

Can you just imagine, how we must look, to the rest of the world? We are the worlds bullies,We dictate our beliefs, and push them on people that in reailty could care less of
our existance.
Our troops will be involved in this coming conflict, only to have "New" battles to emerge.President Bush said from the beginning
(WTC-9/11)The conflict would take many years,He will do his damnest,to make it true.
The axis of evil list, will keep us very busy.Iraq,Iran,N.Korea.Now he has to add more areas of conflicts for our troops,
Phillipines, S.America,.
We dont have the man-power.....And many believe this little Iraq war will benefit our economy.....Its too late.
In the past, war helped stablize our economy,Created new jobs,This will not happen this time. The cost of our troops sitting off shore and in desert tents, is 1 billion per day.
There is no catch up, No economic windfall as the 90s to look forward to.We have bankrupted our future generations,And weakened the most important reason for this war on Iraq.....Homeland security.

I read that article last night and its points about the perversion of our values and character of our leadership is well-illustrated. The destructive results borne of either ignorance or arrogance alone might be salvagable or containable, but in concert they present a blueprint for disaster, at home and abroad.
In some instances you can fight fire with fire and prevent a conflagration. But you can never counter ignorance and arrogance with ignorance and arrogance.
And I agree with junquemama about the economic results. The whole so-called Iraqi crises has been so badly bungled at this point that we're unlikely to realize any economic benefits. In fact, most likely the reverse.
Bush, who has been wandering in a wilderness of biblical allusions, might do well to study the allegory of the prodigal son in today's world who sets out with an unlimited credit card squandering the wealth, security, and reputation of a great nation to support the riotous living of a few good ol' boys. Of course there's no accounting for the loss of life along the way by such a group. Not because it's priceless, but rather because it's value is so negligible to them.

I'm still trying to figure out how dealing with Nassar was successful. All Eisenhower and Kennedy did is forestall a conflict with Egypt.
The present leader of Egypt is setting on a powder keg of anti-western muslims that has been brewing since Eisenhower.
There was also the USSR to deal with if we tried anything with Egypt. The USSR and its interesets no longer exist.
Cuba was "contained" because of the USSR too. We learned in the missle crisis just how far the USSR would go to defend Cuba. But now that Cuba is no longer a USSR satelite and Castro is so old, why bother ?

I *think* that I just installed an ftp program after my computer crashed and I lost all programs. So I'm going to try it out.
Make love not war! If my picture doesn't work, a smile will have to be sufficient. lol!
