Betcha' didn't know that as of 2-24-03 every time you fly anywhere, domestic or otherwise, you'll be tracked by the Dept. of Transportation? So big deal. They can do that in any number of ways - but why this new database? Scroll down to transportation dept. then click "text" alongside 'privacy act'. Try other links around the site. It's the internal notification of most everything the feds are doing. Like a newspaper without the spin.

Amidst all the brouhaha from the fanatical fringe, the attempts at verbal brownshirting and ego enhancement, I missed this thread.
Yes, it's a good site for clear, truthful information. Purely objective.
I suspect a key bit of information about travelers is going to be party loyality and obedience. And that party is not going to be any that we have traditionally known.

I was going to publish a thread today in case someone else hadn't about this very thing.
What gets me is that Congress authorized in their Air Security bill, whatever its really called, something that just is too stupid - and dangerous to be believed!
You are now going to be "assessed" how much of a "personal threat" that you are as a passenger. This is based upon both your criminal records and credit reports before you fly!
That's right! They'll be looking at your records, your traffic violations, the restraining order your ex- put out on you to make your side of the court case look bad, and all of that.
To top it off, people you don't know will be deciding just ow much of a danger that you are based also on your Credit Reports!
Yes! It's True! Really! It's not nonsense and I'm not pulling your leg! Can you believe it?
Will we put up with it, though? You know that if this stands, then it is only one step away from Total Information Awareness being used secretly by the Office of Homeland Security, who will reciprocate by publishing your private information to every company everywhere - like the airline industry, whose business it is of theirs to see your financial records?

Airports will become all service police stops. Background checks, credit checks, traffic tickets, race, ....they will know it all and keep it on file for fifty years.
