It's too bad that we don't have any entertainers like Bob Hope who used their talent to support our country and troops. Bob Hope is a real American hero. He put on a show for us in Saudi Arabia. He was very old and he could barely walk, but he did still did the show and was very funny. A great morale booster.

Well guess what's coming out in the press now?
Cheryl Crow and the other anti-war "star" protesters are being asked why they supported Clinton's bombing and invaision of Kosovo. Crow and the others went over to Kosovo to entertain the troops.
It has become so clear that this anti-war minority is made up of Bush haters, and/or anti-American hate and blame America firsters, and perhaps a few true paficists.

Maybe they just don't happen to be Republicans?
Maybe, just maybe, you don't have to hate Mr. Bush or America to believe that there is another solution short of war?
And maybe Roy Cohn and Senator McCarthy aren't really dead?

Don't think these 'stars' statements are going un-noticed. We've received two emails with a list of the names of the anti-war 'stars' who are speaking out. They're asking for others to support them in their boycott of their movies. Freedom of speech is alive and well....on both sides of the war issue.
ebayauctionguy It's too bad that we don't have any entertainers like Bob Hope who used their talent to support our country and troops. Agreed, it is. The soldiers always showed their heart-felt appreciation to them too. We're a very divided country now, sad to say.

Hmm. Sheryl Crow's album went from #11 to #7 on the Billboard rankings. That translates to an increase in sales.

If they are "anti-war" where were they when Clinton bombed and invaded Kosovo ? How come none of them screamed about the "innocent" civilians that died in the Kosovo bombings ?
I'll tell where they were, they were supporting a democrat doing the same thing Bush is trying to do. They were also supporting and entertaining our troops.
They're liars and hypocrits.

Your reasoning is bogus, REAMOND, as usual. If it really was the way you've been spouting off hateful venom on here, none of them would have supported the War on Afghanistan and the Taliban.
The fact is that they DID support that War as it was Just, as was our efforts in Kosovo. But this War on Iraq is NOT JUST and it is the difference of the Wars, not the Presidents who make the difference in reactions.
So, go ahead and spout more stupidity -- everyone is watching you make a fool of yourself.

These same people were against going into Afghanistan. I remember how many here were against going into Afghanistan.
Perhaps we should go back and look at the old threads where all the "peace nicks" in here where against bombing and killing people in Afghanistan.
No Bor you are wrong. Going into Iraq is no different than going into Kosovo.
Kosovo was a "just" war because Clinton was president.
These "stars" hated Bush before he took office and would be against him if he found a cure for cancer.

I don't archive or know how to search for threads... some people can do it quick here, hey I cannot even link anymore

NearTheSea, this is what I have been compaining about your reading comprehension. I did not say that *I* felt that it was a Just War -- it was pretty much the sentiment of the entire nation that it was a Just cause. I supported it at the time as well.
It wasn't until KRS began to post threads like Hell To Pay and Cheryl Again. A Chronology that I began to understand WHY we were attacked and that it was BUSH's FAULT that I've railed against BUSH. No matter how you cut it, though, it was a Just, but entirely unnecessary War if you think about Bush shold never have been provoking them in the first place. Yet, they did it and it demanded a response. Damn Bush!
I've also felt sorry for the innocent Afghanis who were mained and killed during and since this process. I've said that it was wrong for us to simply build a bunch of small fort to guard Bush & Cheney's Oil Pipeline instead of doing the complete rebuilding that he PROMISED we would do.
So, research all that you want to.

What really makes me laugh is when I hear right-wing radio talk shows--and other conservatives--rail on & on about "how dare celebrities express an opinion about politics!" and "what do celebrities know about politics?!?" and "celebrities should keep their mouths shut--ha! as if they know any more about politics than the man on the street!" and "these #$%@#$! celebrities are just trying to garner attention for themselves by speaking out!"
When it was the Republicans nominated & elected a lowly actor first to Governor and then to President.
But then, celebrities who speak out in *agreement* with these conservative hosts are A-OK. Those celebrities know what they're talking about!

Bush's fault???? Not true. He wasn't even in office when clinton was quoted as saying bin laden is all he [clinton] thought about....worried about. If it's ALL Bush's fault, sure can't figure out why clinton would have been so worried about it before Bush even took office.

its too darn early!
I know, I know, I have reading comprehension problems, but hows my spelling?
I could care less that the celebrities protest and do their anti war bit. Its using their celebrity 'status' that get them more noticed, and they know it.
Its a free country, even for Hollyweird halfwits
Yep they did elect Reagan as Gov then a President. And then Arnold is swaying towards running for Gov of CA he did say, NOT a direct quote: First, I'd rather be President, but we'd have to re write the Constitution for that. (and that was a joke people )

If the stars want to run for office that's fine.
But again, free speech is a two way street. If you want to critisize and call names, you're going to get the same in return.
If stars want to have serious discussions about issues that is fine too.
If they want to have rallies to incite and misinform the public, that's certainly protected speech as long as it is peaceful. But I don't have to agree with it and I can critisize the message and the messinger all I want.
Normally, it would be bad form to critisize the messinger, but with "stars" the messinger is part of the message and they know it beforehand.
This goes for Sean Penn as well as Charlton Heston.

thought I heard mention of some 'pro war' celebs (I call it pro war, seems everyone else is, that is not what I believe it should be called, but..... )
Who are these NON anti war celebs?
All I've actually heard about and quoted about it were Tom Cruise and Speilberg
The celebs have every right everyone else has in this country to speak out on what they believe, I agree. (but they *seem* to have more clout, than your ordinary citizen)

Dennis Miller is another. I think that James Woods is another. However, the liberal press will not publish pro-war star statements.
Doesn't anyone find it strange that we can ramble off the names of anti-America stars but can name few pro-Aamerica stars ?
It is all due to the liberal press.
And as far as the "world" liking us, I could care less. It is naive to think that someone publicly "liking" you is important in international affairs.
Tending to your own interests and depending on no one else but yourself to whack your enemies is what counts.
Does any sane person think that Germany and France will protect the US from an attack ? Who will pay the price if Iraq gives al Qaeda a WMD, France ? Germany ? No, it will be the US and/or Israel that pays the price.
When it comes to life and death issues in international affairs, you had better cover your own a** or find a rock to hide under.
France, Russia, and Germany have shown that they will fight the terrorist fight until the las American city is destroyed and the last American is killed. That's how it has worked throughout history.

"I think war is based in greed and there are huge karmic retributions that will follow. I think war is never the answer to solving any problems. The best way to solve problems is to not have enemies."
- Sheryl Crow
I just had to reprint that quote here.
It takes away all creditability to these protesters. Don't hold your hand on your A** waiting for the "huge karmic retributions." What's she talking about? What drugs is she doing? I haven't heard much about Karma in quite a while. Thought it died in the 70's. Sounds like she's got all her sh*t in one bag. Kinda Groovy, Man!!
Not have enemies? We wish that would be true. Of course if we all laid down and died that would be possible. It's tough to be the police of the world. It was something that was thrust upon us. We do the job well. Now were called bullies.

Colin, while it is true that we will always have enemies, the amount of enemies can vary widely! It would be better to have less enemies than more, wouldn't you agree with that? If so, then do you think that making this unprovoked attack on the nation of Iraq in violation of International Law and several UN Resolutions is going to provide us with less enemies or more enemies in the long run? What's your opinion on that?
