The map toward the end of the article illustrates the most critical areas.

It's a good thing you moved here so that you will have access to all that lovely rain water.

Maybe the pending war isn't about oil at all... maybe they want to reduce the population to increase the percapita amount of water available.Something to ponder.

The Lord Jesus Christ said in John 7:37, "...If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink."

At least, George won't feel the need to go to war for water. Since God is on his side, he will never experience thirst.

Robin,

We're not going to be in too bad shape here for a while, according to the map--if that matters. Another good reason to re-think relocation.

If you or KD have a spare room to rent though, we might be calling on if things go awry.

I meant you should move here. My brain must have been talking to KRS and I was talking to you!LOL! Time for me to get off here and do my errands..and rest my brain.

I'll let you redecorate and move into my garage and you can share my water barrels. I already save water to use on the plants when it gets dry here.

Lol! Yes, I've got to get those things done.

Helen,

There's a new strategic plan to reserve a certain amount for parting and walking. Ashcroft gets to keep some of the oil for annoiting.

The lower portion of our place has a spring which runs into a ditch system that provides water for the pastures down there, and the excess water goes back to the creek. It's average flow the last two years has gone down by half. For 200 years that spring provided enough water to fill the ditches to irrigate when it was necessary, even during dry times. Now we've had to add a pond to hold back enough water to irrigate with.We just finished a new well for the upper part of the place. It's 350 feet deep. It's costs make my knees shake. Newcomers around here are putting in wells to beat the band, and transforming the native desert into a copy of the midwestern and california green belts they abandoned for some reason. Makes me sick. One guy across the creek put in his perfect acre of lawn before he fenced it.Seems he didn't know that in open range country, you have to fence the others guy's livestock OUT if you don't want them on your property. Before long somebody's cattle were tromping all over that grass, leaving skillet sized holes and big old greasy flops everywhere...got more than a few laughs out of that one. In some places I guess, there's plenty of water, just not enough that's clean. In our case, there just isn't enough to support so many people. Maybe some of them will pick up and move when their wells go dry...or at least I can hope.

If you don't know both law and custom in a new place and don't take the time to find out a cow patty is a pretty cheap and easy way to learn.
There are many places in the world it would cost you your life.
profe51 will probably still be there when the suburbanites have given up and left after lowering the water table a bit. He'll adapt to the land even after they harm it.

You used to be able to go to the South West to get away from the pollen if you had hay fever.
But all the fools moved there and then planted the same bushes and trees they had back home.

Duhhhhhhhh.

That's right gravid, I could no more leave this place than I could grow a new limb....

Yes, of course we are. Not only do we have oil, but our water supply is the second best quality in the world (after Finland).
